Hello, I have a 2012 Mac mini that has a 500 GB SSD and 16 g of ram, it has big sur thanks to open core and in configuration it appears that there is a new update to sequoia and my question is, if it is advisable to update it like this or what would be the most recommended way

💻 Laptop Specifications:

✅ What Works & What Doesn't

✔ Everything except Wifi (Broadcom 802.11n isn’t supported)
❌ No NVIDIA GPU acceleration (as expected)

🥳 Workaround for Wifi

For WiFi I had to replace the inbult Broadcom 802.11n wifi card as it's not supported for macOS v10 and above. I had a old laptop laying around with Intel wifi card 5100 inside it. I replaced my laptop's wifi card with that of the Intel one and wifi works with just AirportItlwm kext.

I’m super grateful for whoever invented/discovered hackintoshing and also to the OpenCore community for making it possible to install MacOS on non-Apple devices.

I have tried both Windows and Linux (including many different distros). I’ve been a Linux user for maybe three years now and have been a fan ever since I started using it. Now I wanted to try MacOS.

Because I couldn’t afford an actual MacBook (even an Air), I thought, why not try hackintoshing? My laptop had low but decent specs, and I just assumed that it could handle the latest version (Sequoia).

I’ve successfully hackintoshed my laptop and been using MacOS for a few days now for school and programming stuff. It had exceeded my expectations both in the UI and UX departments. It’s like Linux, but better. And most of the apps and packages that I use, especially for programming, just work. Temps are ok, similar to Linux if not hotter sometimes, but at least not as hot as Windows. 

It’s quite surprising how good the latest version runs (Sequoia) even on an older chipset like the 8th generation Intel core. MacOS devs are on another level I guess. 

MacOS is pretty fun to use and I like tinkering with new OS. It has its peculiarities but nothing that I won't get used to. I like learning the keyboard shortcuts especially learning how command key works. Apple really does think different.

Now I get why people who use MacOS can’t seem to get over it because it does the job, and it does things even better than Linux in my opinion (so far).

I think I’ll keep using MacOS for the foreseeable future with Linux as a backup. Thank you for reading this post, and happy hackintoshing!

Hi everyone i recently Hackintoshed my Lenovo thinkbook 15-IIL But there’s an issue what i have been facing is the touchpad is not working at all i tried everything and nothing is working Please someone can help me and this my EFI:

I installed macOS Big Sur using a prebuilt OpenCore Kaby Lake Laptop EFI onto my Acer Spin 5 SP13-51-57TP. I could only get ethernet to work. I tried to install an Atheros Kext, but when I booted, voodoo controller would error out. Any help is appreciated)

I have the opencore debug version and when i launched the bootloader i get a cmd style option. I dont see the mac os partition but when i click spacebar i see something pop up. I end up clicking it and it freezes then after 30 seconds its stops with error "support.apple.com/mac/startup". Ima link the log below but i need help please.

I went Hackint0sh for my main system several years ago when my Macbook Pro developed serious problems and ultimately failed as a result of overheating while running triple external monitors (they were all 4k, but it was within the rated specs of the machine).

Of course it took time to set up and manage updates, but other than that it was basically trouble free. Fast, ran cool, quiet, upgradeable RAM and storage, perfect.

Recently I had another use for that hardware and decided that since the writing is on the wall for Intel MacOS updates, I'd take down the Hack and replace it with a Mac Studio. It's mostly a fine machine and runs my triples with no issue and is quiet and cool. But I've had nonstop USB issues with it. My USB extension setup that worked fine with the Hack doesn't work properly because there's another internal layer of USB hubs in the Studio. And the USB NVME enclosure I bought (a top rated, expensive one) (because of Apple's nuts pricing on internal SSD and lack of expandable storage) continuously disconnects when the computer is unused (even though I've tried to disable sleep and tell it not to sleep hard drives). I have to replug it basically every time I sit down to work, and restart Dropbox so it can find it, and it's probably just a matter of time before it gets corrupted because of all the hot disconnects. Trying to track it down with Apple support but from all the hanging forum threads on the issue, I'm not optimistic.

All told, I'm probably on pace to spend about as much time debugging USB issues with the Studio as I spent setting up the Hackint0sh.

Just writing to say thanks to everyone for all their hard work and I miss my Hackint0sh.

After some trial and error, I finally got macOS Sequoia running on my Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ARH05! I followed ChefKiss's guide () along with Dortania's OpenCore guide to get everything working.

Hi,I was trying to do a hackintosh and I can't see my internal SSD on utility disk SSD : WDC PC SN350 SDBPNPZ-256G-1114

For now I have hackintosh on my external SSD (different one)
