Unpopular opinion: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer isn't worth the hype

I've seen to many rave reviews about this concealer but I don't get that hype.

Maybe I bought a bad batch, I don't know:

I experienced low coverage with this, you can't add more layers to get more coverage and it's too thin.

Do only people who have clear skin rate it good?

A concealer is something which should conceal and doesn't vanish. :/

  • This concealer is pure junk to me. I think they just make money off the word "dupe". That concealer wore off after about a minute.

TBH, I haven't had great experiences with concealer generally - I've tried some of the top high end ones aswell.

My experience with concealer is it looks good for an hour and then just fades off (I tried premium ones like Nars, Tarte, Dior)

I have a similar experience although Tarte does last for a solid 6 hours without touch-ups! Also, I can't use concealer alone as it will NEVER match my skin tone. I wonder if I'm the only one having this problem as so many seem to just use concealer + some bronzer before they're ready to go

I love the nyx don't stop won't stop and revolution conceal and define I find they both offer good coverage and I only need to use a little bit to conceal any red patches or spots

They did the thing with this one where they packaged it really similarly to a super popular product (Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer), and rode that product’s coattails to the bank.

    Yeah that concealer sucks

    4

I never liked the Age Rewind one either and that's been recommended all over the place for years.

    6

As someone who struggles with acne, I can attest that this concealer did nothing for me. I was so disappointed because I had heard so many great things about it. Maybe it works better for people with already clear skin? But I totally agree, a concealer should actually conceal, not just disappear into thin air.

    7

I agree. The wand is TINY and it doesn’t cover anything. I just use mine as eyeshadow primer

Have you found a concealer that you like? I am looking myself and fit me has been the only somewhat decent one. I got the glossier one which is supposed to be super hydrating but even fit me worked better, so I have no idea what to try now

    for pimples/acne/scars etc.:

    • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (sets itself without powder, medium to full coverage, my HG for years)

    • Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (good for oily skin, doesn't need powder for setting because it sets itself, high coverage)

    • Dermacol Makeup Cover (tiny amount covers everything, creamy consistency, highest coverage)

for undereye area (mine is dry and I have dark circles + fine lines):

    • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (but I don't use powder to set it under my eyes)

    • Tarte Shape Tape Creamy Concealer (hydrating, more natural version of Shape Tape Concealer)

    • Dermacol Makeup Cover (does crease but only if use the usual amount for concealer)

A trick I heard from a YouTuber (Taylor Wynn) is to apply it, then let it sit for a bit before blending it out, for more coverage. I find this works with many thinner concealers. I personally don't like the FitMe concealer as I can't find the best shade match, but the trick does help.

You need to be careful doing this with thicker/higher coverage concealers though, eg double wear concealer will dry exactly where you apply it and wont blend out at all if you let it sit!

it’s not the greatest but i’m too lazy to take the time to find a better one that matches my skin so i still use it💀

Fr, all other concealers in my drugstore are either pink or orange. The fit me one is yellow enough for my banana looking skin
