Waterproof Concealer

Hi everyone! I have to be in water next week for lifeguard training, and I’m very self conscious about having bare skin in front of people. I’ve been struggling with acne and redness recently, and would love to find a concealer that can hold in the water for a few hours! What concealer has the best staying power that you’ve tried?

  • I know how frustrating it can be and how much anxiety it can cause. So I'm sorry you have to go through this. But, we'll soon realize that we're the only one that cares about this stuff, and no one else pays attention to it.
I struggle with redness, too, not to mention how much I sweat when I go to the gym. Surprisingly, that's the moment when I feel good being red and all sweaty. I hate wearing make-up to the gym. It makes me feel dirty, but I don't judge others for wearing it. You do you.
About the waterproof concealer, I haven't found anything great so far. I've been looking for one too because I wear contact lenses. My vision is a little bit blurry, and before spending hundreds of dollars on the medical ones, I chose to test these https://myeyebb.com/collections/blue-contacts. My eyes are always watery, and all of my make-up, including my concealer, looks awful. Hoping I can find something here!

I love the Tarte amazonian clay foundation. I usually can't even get it off when scrubbing my face in the shower. I have to use makeup remover because it stays so well in water!

You should take a look at Danessa Myricks Vision Cover. It’s a very concentrated complexion product that can be used as full coverage foundation or concealer. I personally mix it with an oily serum for a more natural finish but it is TENACIOUS in water in its own. It takes forever to wash off and you can see the water beading up on the surface when you run it under a faucet. I think it’s marketed as water proof and it really does seem to be.

I’ve never heard of this brand, and I’m definitely going to look into it!! It sounds perfect for what I’m looking for. Thank you so much!

I used to be a swimmer experiencing acne, so I feel you. There's nothing that won't fade a little bit in chlorine, but I used to use the Make Up For Ever full cover concealer. It obviously breaks down a little, but if you're not rubbing at it and you don't use too much, it should be fine. The only downside is that it's rather pricey (though it will last you forever; it's crazy pigmented so you really only need a dot), and the shade selection isn't the best. Good luck with training :)

OP, I'm really vouching for this. I wore it at the beach, in sunny, humid climates, in pools, and it doesn't wear off after like 16+ hrs of wear. It's insane. Ofc it looks worse than it did when you just applied it, but I've never tried a concealer remotely as good as this one, and I had really bad acne for many years.

Came here to say this!! It covered up my most severe hormonal acne and stayed all day, budged very minimally in water. Definitely invest in some micellar water to use before cleanser to make sure it actually comes off.

Thank you so much! Thankfully it’s in a lake, not a pool, so hopefully it breaks down less! I’ve guarded for years but my acne hasn’t been this bad during this time of year since I started. I’ll definitely give that a try, I really appreciate it!!
