Vacuums for Long (Human) Hair?
Hi there!
So... My husband and I are currently searching for a new vacuum that might be able to deal with my long hair that sheds like crazy. Our current stick vacuum gets hair wrapped around the roll, and it's super annoying (and kind of gross..) cutting it off. Are there any vacuums out there that are made for this kind of thing? We were looking at pet vacuums initially, but honestly don't know what to look for. If at all possible, a smaller/lighter-weight vacuum would be ideal since we live in a very small apartment, and mostly just use it on our area rug in the living room.
Thanks in advance! :)

When I worked for a home cleaning company, we were taking the beater bar out and cutting hair off of it every day. To my knowledge, cutting the hair out/making sure the beater bar is clean is part of the maintenance of any vacuum. If you have Instagram I would also look up @gocleanco. She is the best and has a whole guide put together on her story highlights about pros and cons of a TON of vacuums. Good luck!

Thank you!! I’m having the same problem as OP and will check her out!
Shark vacuum cleaners
As a person who professionally cleans, these are the absolute best vacuum cleaners for long hair and pets! I use one in my home also, I have long hair, 2 long haired chihuahuas and now a cat 🐈⬛
Very easy to take out the beater bar if needed, suction on these are superior to Dyson, and light enough that every day use isn’t going to kill your shoulders or wrists. My current one I use for work gets beat up, like 2-3 homes a day all have pet hair and it still works great after 2 1/2 years. Hope this helps even with the $$ but you can get good deals on Amazon.
Our old house cleaner agrees. I miss her dearly. I ended up buying a small Miele and while it’s amazing, it’s heavy and I sigh every time I have to haul it out
Update: We bought this vacuum and tried it out, and it works wonderfully! The hair was sucked up into the canister, and wound up on its own around a little mesh cone-shaped thing in there. It did not get wrapped up on the beater bar (followed the provided instructions to get it to self-clean), and it was super easy to take out and replace the canister to dump stuff into the trash, too. The odor-neutralizer pod was also a nice touch! It definitely has a great amount of suction, and we appreciate the fact that it has settings for both carpet and hardwood/solid floors, its light weight, the different attachments, and the fact that there is an LED light at the front of the vacuum, so we can actually see what is being cleaned... or missed. Time will tell if it lasts, of course, but overall a wonderful recommendation! Thank you so much again! :D
I’m thrilled to read your update!!!!! Happy vacuuming!! :) :)
Seriously though, I’ve used them all(cheap to overly pricey)and I can’t say enough great things about Shark. It’s just a solid product.
Is the vacuum still working well for you? edit; nvm I just saw your update :)
Thank you so much, this recommendation is super helpful! I'll definitely check it out!
Hi! I was wondering if you have an update on this vacuum? How is it working for your long hair? Mine just pooped out on me and I’m so over having to have special tools to get the roller brush out to clean all the hair out!
