Daily lenses vs Monthly lenses, which do you prefer and which saves more money in a year?

I prefer the better and more comfortable fit (monthlies for me). But if you can afford it, it is good to have both versions. Good to have some dailies for emergency/travelling.
Monthly lenses will save you more money if you wear them every day and take care of them properly; however, prescriptions are brand and product specific so yours will be written for either the monthly or daily option, and you’ll have to contact your optometrist if you want to switch.
Monthlies are more cost effective. But ultimately you should only be buying what your doctor prescribed you. Your contact lens prescription is brand specific.
You don't have to be stuck with the first type you're trying with your optometrist. OP is well within their follow-up timeframe to be fitted with whatever lenses they want.
If you're going to wear contacts almost exclusively, then I would recommend the longest lasting lenses available in the brand/line that's comfortable to you. Generally speaking, the longer the lens lasts the cheaper it is. The additional maintenance of any contacts that aren't single-use/dailies is MINIMAL compared to what you already have to do with dailies. You already have to wash your hands to take the contacts out of your eyes, the only difference is you also have to agitate them in the palm of your hand with solution and then store them in a case with solution as well. The maintenance is really only a concern for people that can't even be bothered to wash their hands before taking their contacts out. Monthlies and biweeklies are slightly thicker than dailies, so that just comes down to your personal comfort level and how they feel in your eyes.
If you mainly wear glasses and want contacts to supplement (i.e. beach days, gymnastics, etc), then I would recommend dailies. When storing monthlies and biweeklies, you have to replace the solution on a weekly basis if you haven't worn them which could easily get missed. And my understanding is they're still only good for 1 month (monthlies) or 2 weeks (biweeklies), even if you aren't wearing them every day. So in that case I would just buy 1-3 months of dailies to supplement my glasses on certain occasions.
I personally just switched to daily lenses and I find them much more comfortable. I have dry eyes so having a new lens is really helpful. They are more expensive though.
I used monthlies for trial from Alcon hydro glide and switched to dailies Acuvue Oasis Max. More expensive but my eyes like it much more. And it’s so much easier to deal with. Especially travelling!
I prefer dailies since I have dry eyes and astigmatism so the contacts are much thinner and more comfortable. It is more expensive unfortunately but I don’t want to go back to bimonthlies or monthlies. I need my contacts to last me all day and I just couldn’t get through the entire day in anything but dailies.
