Recommendations on Indexers (new to usenet)

Indexer

So, I've been using torrents almost exclusively for over a decade. Almost exclusively on private trackers as places like piratebay, etc were always pools of viruses and tracked content and more. Was always happy for the most part, except for the obvious down fall of torrents (being availability and often times, speed).

Once I got into usenet about 2 months ago, I finally realized how great it is to have a "service" that offers extremely fast speeds, is way safer, and availability of "content" is just.. well better. Usenet has proven to be amazing.

I'm still learning but I thought I only needed like one indexer and a couple of different providers to extend my reach on available/findable content. But I was recently educated that what I want is a couple of indexers. Obviously have 10 indexers is just going to give me diminishing returns. But say two could be very ideal.

Currently I'm using NZBGeek for my one indexer. I've been told DrunkenSlug and Ninjacentral (and nzbgeek) are essentially the three best there are for movies/tv shows. Drunkenslug and Ninjacentral are invite only. So my question is, what are some alternatives I can use while I wait for their registration to open back up (do they ever open up or are they purely invite only?).

Please, share your recommendations. I love NZBGeek but I still struggle to find some stuff. Would love some redundancy.

Thanks guys!

My personal opinion and experience., keep in mind I use *arrs, so I rarely if ever use their web interfaces for searching...

You most likely will want 2-3 depending on your "needs". It is really subjective to the content you are looking for.

Once you get to 3+ there are diminishing returns, as there can be a good chunk of overlap between them.

Slug and Ninja are good, you probably don't need both. Invites are fairly easy to get gotten for Slug (there is another reddit for that).

Other open indexers can easily work as well... nzb.su and planet I have heard are good. Though at least for me, they didn't add a ton of value... but I already have DS and Ninja.

Good to know. I too use *arr's for everything. My biggest issue at the moment is one "file" will fail up to like 10+ times before it'll finally download. Finding stuff isn't hard, but finding stuff that can actual download or successfully repair seems to be an issue.

I'm checking out nzb.su now. Seeing how it does with Geek. The daily limit for SU kind of sucks, especially when paying for a VIP membership, but we'll see how it goes.

NZBGeek, Su, NinjaCentral, Drunkenslug, Finder, althub, abnzb, Planet, DigitalCarnage, Miatrix, Crawler in that order.

Dog has little content compared to huge price.

Cat is useless now due to lack of obfuscation support.

I'm in the States, and nzbgeek has just about everything I want. If you want other countries, you would want other indexers too.

There are quite a few very good indexers that are open registration. I suggest checking out the indexer wiki page and registering for any of the open ones and having a look at their content.

I've been reading over it. I guess what I was hoping for was recommendations along with "why I like this one" or "i've tried this one, it was ok but here's the issues with it I had."

Just wanting some personal experiences and recommendations. I'm still looking over it. Any clue, does Slug or Ninja open up registration or have they basically only become invite only?
