Windows VM Installation - No Storage Recognised
Solved!
Hi Team,
Bit of a mystery to me, i've been struggling getting the windows installer to recognise the VirtIO drivers for a while and eventually gave in to just using an IDE device instead - but now that i've tried that, it doesn't work either.
Proxmox support forums basically loop back to 'install VirtIO drivers' for any missing storage during windows insatllation concerns, but now that isn't my only concern.
Am hoping there is some glaring error that someone can point out to me
[Solved] - For some reason my Windows ISO was busted, worked first time with a fresh MSDN copy. Thanks to u/cspotme2

so you load the needed virtio drivers but still cant see disk?
They fail to install, no devices found. Have grabbed a few different versions of virtio iso and same story
You try running in UEFI mode instead of SeaBios?
Yeah, have that a go - efi partition on the same SSD and still no dice
The Proxmox support forums loop back to the only sane answer. Describe the problem you’re encountering with the driver installation so you can focus on fixing the actual issue. Using IDE for fixed disk is truly wack.
And yet, IDE should work natively. The fact that it doesn't, not do the instructions for loading virtio, suggests there is another problem.
Which is why I'm here asking the question
I have change to IDE its its resolved my issue

Tried Bus/Device: VirtIO Block?
Yep, no difference. The issue is less now that i cant install VirtIO drivers (although that is annoying) and more that windows cant even see the IDE device
Try browsing each level of the virtio subfolders. They are there.
