Unraid has a Time Machine option in the export drop down menu under SMB Security Settings when you create a share. You should notice it everytime you make a share on Unraid.
I don't use a mac, but isn't it broken af right now? All I hear are complaints about it
I have the Timemachine Docker container running and it works fine for me. You should be able to find it in the Community Apps section and Setup is really simple.
I second this. The Timemachine docker is great and should be more stable and not break functionality across various unraid os updates.
SMB User access = set the user you want to allow to backup.
Apply
Now go to the mac click finder -> network look for you unraid server.
Click on a the Time Machine share.
Enter the login password for the user.
Now click onto macs settings -> time machine.
Add new disk. Choose the network share.
Time Machine has typically worked fine for me with Unraid shares, though I haven’t tried it on the latest version. But I’m going to say something potentially unpopular (or perhaps not feasible due to cost)… try Arq Backup. It’s WAY faster and super seamless (as seamless as Time Machine, but much more forgiving with network shares). Worth a shot at the trial if you haven’t tried it yet.
Since 6.11.X Time Machine on UnRaid went to absolute shit. As many here I tried everything. I moved all my 8 Mac backups from UnRaid to an old MacMini with a thunderbolt raid enclosure. Is a SHAME that UnRaid is not staying on top of this and yes blame Apple as much as you want but that's no excuse fro UnRaid. Either fix it or take it off your marking pitch.
works for me. you have to delete hand entered SMB settings and turn on mac compatiblity!
