AdguardHome in OpenWrt router

I've installed AdGuardHome on a NanoPi R4S with 4GB RAM, but you may have faced some hardware limitations. If you're looking for more control and filtering with your DNS server, you could consider installing Adblock-Lean, a package developed by Lynxthecat and Wizzballs.

Adblock-Lean allows you to add HaGeZi adblock lists, similar to AdGuardHome, as both use DNSMASQ (Pi-hole is a fork of DNSMASQ). The installation process is straightforward, and depending on your hardware's RAM limitations, you can choose which lists to use. However, it doesn't have a GUI interface yet. I know someone is working on integrating it into LuCi, but it's still very simple to use.

For devices with less than 254MB or 128MB of RAM (or even less, works with 64 ram), you can use Adblock-Lean very similar like AGH server. Here’s the link to the project: https://github.com/lynxthecat/adblock-lean.

Looks pretty nice project. Meaning that configuration only thru command?

I found Adguard home works well with my x86_64 opener, but is limited in number of lists for my Belkin rt3200 router and causes the router to stop accepting inputs for Luci GUI or ssh. I can live with the limitations for the rt3200 since it's a secondary route (two wans combined using mwan3 at the x86), but I had to choose my filter list carefully.

Just my $0.02

I'd like to know if it is possible that using this router mainly for AGH DNS server

I wouldn't. There's hardly enough system resources for that on your router (single-core 750 MHz processor, 128 MB RAM, 16 MB storage).

I don't think ADG would even fit in the 16 MB storage along with the OS.
