What to use for sharing files with the outside?
Question
Hi!
My users occasionally need to share files with parties outside of the organization. Long time ago something like FTP was the only option (outside of external drives) but who uses that nowadays? What are your preferred ways? Any recommendations?

Never heard the name until it made the news recently. Won't use them at this time for sure.
Oh sure... Now you tell us. :)
Is it a regular thing? We have an sftp server external clients can connect to for their files
Really depends on where the files are stored.
If they are on SharePoint one drive or Google drive it is easy to provide external access and control access.
We use Liquidfiles for shares , secure transfers for large documents etc etc works really well and is cheap
FTP but with an S
We use teams/sharepoint/onedrive, as external sharing is all natively built in.
NextCloud?

Optionally: Dropbox, Egnyte, Amazon Drive all offer file sharing within and outside of an organization.
We use sftpgo, with ftps and sftp for power users and https for normies ;) Open source, easy to use, and blazing fast.
But I want to switch to minio s3, since recently it also has ftps support. So we can still do a nice http interface for dumb users, s3 for power users and ftp(s) for legacy.
Only annoying thing is that we can’t customize the minio console (the nice web ui for end users), there are quite some buttons that I would like to hide, for example.

Zend.to rocks! Love it.
Google Drive, OneDrive?
ShareFile. That site is so good. Basic folder structure ftp. HIPAA compliant if you need the security. Otherwise, share directly through OneDrive.
Came to say ShareFile. It's simple, easy and secure...

Goanywhere mft for a enterprise with needs on the regular otherwise your favorite approved saas application with corporate logins. (Onedrive/Dropbox/etc)
Azure. Sharepoint. Invite external users as guest users and give them access. Our company does this a kot and it works great.
