How can I change a default keyboard shortcut?
I know this isn't something Firefox supports natively, but I'm hoping y'all can help. I spent the last hour googling and couldn't find a solution.
I'm a recent transplant from Chrome. Loving it so far, but the private browsing shortcut has changed on me - ctrl+shift+N was Chrome's combo, but Firefox uses ctrl+shift+P.
Is there any way I can change this? Maybe an extension or some kind of script? Please help!
If you are using Windows, then you can install Microsoft PowerToys and use the Keyboard Manager to remap a shortcut: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/
it works for me but I would still like ff to let user change shortcut keys. the current solution feels too hacky and prone to malfunctioning. anyway thank you
With AutoHotkey, you could really easily change ctrl+shift+P to ctrl+shift+N. I'd written out a long list of things I use it for that I deleted because they weren't really relevant to this post specifically, but you can do a bunch of things with it, and I know there are more even beyond what I use it for...it's really useful.
can you share the script you wrote for this. i want to do the same thing. thanks :)

You can support this idea on Mozilla Connect:
I wouldn't recommend changing your default keyboard shortcuts unless you have a really strong routine of using them. Shortcuts are often hard to memorize and its best to go for the default to avoid any confusions. Reiden is something you might find helpful - it's compatible with firefox
