Notepad++ alternative

I’m looking for a notepad++ alternative than can handle large log files. Approx. 200mb in size. I have tried VSCode and Sublime but they struggle hard while opening these logs. Is there anything else I could use?

CotEditor ? Don't have such a file, so can not try...

I've used sublime to open logs even up to 500Mb with no problems, are you sure it's an app problem?

BBEdit?

It doesn't suck

BBEdit as SparkyGrass13 has recommended is ideal. I have opened 1GiB log files in it, without choking.

BBEdit, which should be able to handed that size. If you need larger, look at UltraEdit but it isn't cheap.

Zed? Vim?

Sublime text is really sublime, handles files of 300MB with ease

Maybe vimr or emacs?

BBedit will do this too.

UltraEdit works well for large files.

I found coteditor a few weeks ago… for me it is perfect! Syntax highlighting, lots of customization and completely FREE!

Or… if you just want plain text… maybe the default TextEdit. Its quite fast and really lightweight!

Textmate all day

Visual Studio Code is great!

I use TextMate for most things.

I’ve recently opened a 500mb log file with Sublime Text. Never had an issue with it. Maybe it comes down to your machine?
