Pixel 9 Pro screen protector options
Heya, sorry for the long read.
I just got my 9 Pro in, and I've been loving the phone so far.
I've had my scepticisms regarding the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, but the Samsung crowd was right, it's insanely fast, and I don't think I'd go back.
However, said ultrasonic fingerprint sensor has also been the bane of my existence, and I'm looking for recommendations on a decent screen protector that'd work without making it useless.
I don't want a screen protector that'll be there to take a beating, as my experience with screen protectors for that has been pretty weak and I trust the glass to be durable enough. I just need something to protect the glass from my apartment keys as well as random debris that might be in my pocket.
I've also been considering using ceramic coating (yes, the kind that's used to protect car paint), but there's barely any info on anyone using it for this purpose.
Either way, if anyone's gotten their hands on screen protectors for their phones yet, please do share your experiences!
Thanks!
tldr: is there any screen protectors for the pixel 9 series that don't render the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor useless
I'm using the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Protector.
No issues so far.
Same here, put it on as soon as my phone came out the box. Set up my fingerprint during set up (I did it 4 times) and I've never had it fail to unlock. Also, the screen protector feels amazing, very smooth feeling and clear.
I've left adaptive touch on but screen protector mode is off, I've not experienced any issues at all using my device like this.

So when I first got my P9P I bought the Ultraglass Unbreak screen protector because it had what I wanted (cover front camera to avoid lint buildup around the cutout and the easy applicator that removes dust as you apply it by wiping the screen). However, it absolutely destroyed the usability of the ultrasonic FP sensor. Maybe 1/10 success rate and really hard to remap fingerprints.
I found a similar screen protector with the same features and applicator as the Unbreak, and I have had no issues with the FP reader or mapping them. Amazon P9P Link below:

This one is good. Works even better if you re-register your prints after installing.

I got the same one, should get here tomorrow, hopefully it's ok
UPDATE: this morning I applied the tempered glass and re-registered my fingerprint. Has been working perfectly fine
I got a JETech screen protector off Amazon before the phone shipped and haven't had any issues with the fingerprint sensor or front camera. I got that one specifically because they don't have the front camera cutouts, which just collect dust and I've had fine front camera performance with it under the screen protector.
I don't understand the front camera cutouts since the same companies that make those will sell camera protectors which are just a piece of glass over the rear camera housing
2 things that aren't helpful at all:
I've never used a screen protector in my life
Who puts their phone in the same pocket as their keys?
I have the Mous glass screen protector. It works fine with the FP reader.
