You need to look at your own workflow and current ram usage. We can't really tell you, if you do extremely complex things then yes. If you don't, no. If you have 32GB currently and always run out then it is likely that the best option for you would actually be the 30 core 96GB model for example, not that you need 96GB but because you are clearly doing huge projects and could realistically push into the 50s, 60GB usage over time.
Yeah, that's a fair question. I guess the current problem is I don't know what I'll need. I've been on an M1 8gb Macbook Air for a few years, but recently picked up wildlife photography and am spending a lot of the day in Lightroom, and it's just not handling. AT all. And I anticipate getting deep into wildlife 4k video as well, so I'm unsure of where I will max out on those things. 36gb seems like it would be sufficient, but these apps are always evolving and I don't wanna be maxing out in 2 years.
Could you shed some input for me? I'm a Windows user since birth. I dislike Apple. But contemplating on the said MacBook Pro M3 Max 16inch. But not sure which one to go for, the 36gb 1TB 39 core is £3600, but the 40 core 48GB jumps to £4100, or another £200 for 64GB
I do graphic design work, mainly video editing, illustrations and Photoshopping. (I do use 3 programs open at once at time. Juggling between them)
The biggest difference is the jump between M3 Pro and M3 Max, not 36 to 48 GB. I would say that's the larger part of the $1K difference. For video it is worth it IMO, but it also depends on how serious you are about the video part. It's not like the M3 Pro won't work, it's just roughly half the GPU power of the max.

If you’re gonna get the 48gb fork out the extra $200 for the 64gb
Correct, but not the question. I already stated I would do that. The big question is the jump from the 36 to the 48
