Favorite native macOS VNC client?
I understand that in some cases VNC isn't the ideal protocol for connecting to running VMs - for example, once a Windows VM is running it might be preferable to connecting via RDP, etc.
What I'm asking about specifically is a native macOS alternative to the browser-based VNC launched from the unRAID web gui.
-
macOS Screen Sharing; unable to connect so far, it seems to ask for login even though I have no password set.
-
TigerVNC, Chicken of the VNC: connect OK but unhappy with window resizing behavior, rather than scaling content I start seeing scrollbars.
-
unRAID Web VNC: works better than I might have expected but I end up with so many browser windows, would sort of prefer to manage VNC connections separately
Looking for other unRAID users' favorite VNC client alternatives...
I used the built in screen sharing tool. Seemed to work well. You may need to auth with the server username/password. I remember I had an issue a few months ago but can’t exactly remember how I fixed it.
RealVNC’s free viewer.

Impeccable timing you have, because I just ran into and solved this exact issue on MacOS like 3 hours ago. After extensive research and testing I've concluded that using NoMachine is hands down the best way to handle this. It's able to run concurrently with the default VNC client, so in case there is any issue you have a backup option to lean on.

Their native Mac client is awesome, and the responsiveness of the remote sessions has been impressive. Setup was as simple as downloading the linux version on my Ubuntu machine, running the installer, selecting default options when prompted, going back to my Mac, installing the Mac version, and then letting it scan for servers. Whole thing took like 2 minutes. Hope this helps!
I’ve been using Screens for a while and really like it. mostly use it to access my PC and mac remotely, but should work for VMs too.
