Hi all, been experimenting with OpenWRT on a little Sagemcom 2704N router since I wanted to use WDS which the stock firmware doesn't come with.

It flashed and worked fine at first but I screwed up some setting to the point of no longer being able to access the web interface. I wish to reset to default settings so I'm looking around and find there's a failsafe mode.

I can get the router to enter failsafe (fast flashing power LED) but I cannot telnet or SSH into it. I have set a static IP on my PC in the correct subnet but 192.168.1.1 (where the router should be) just isn't responding using any of the LAN ports.

I can let the router boot normally (with a screwed up config) and 192.168.1.1 responds to pings and crucially lets me SSH in but there's a root password set that I did not set... so I can't log in that way either.

Any ideas? i'm frustrated that I can get it into the so-called failsafe mode but it just will not let me SSH in.
