Tailscale really works with ARC!!
I have been frustrated with my network provider's use of CGNAT (T-Mobile Home Internet) and not allowing me to use ARC while I'm away. I knew there was this thing called Tailscale that could help me with that, but it seemed too complicated to set up and understand.
It turns out that they have an app for AppleTV, and it is super easy to get it up and running. I can finally use ARC in my daily commute to work! Happy times.

Yes, they call it "subnet router". Basically you need a device in your domestic network to act as a gateway for the phone to connect to. You need to install the Tailscale app in both the Apple TV and the phone to create a sort of VPN network between them. Forgive me because I am not an expert but I know that my phone thinks that it's at home now.
I downloaded tailscale for my iPhone and Mac Pro (Roon server) and arc is working better for me than it ever has. Thank you for posting!!
Arc not working correctly prevented me from getting a lifetime license. I’ll try tailscale for a few more weeks but man I wish I knew about this a year ago.
Thanks again OP.
u/RickyRocaway Glad to hear that!!
Agree, works great. I setup the Roon Core server as an exit node. Clever mesh VPN software and it's free for personal use. Amazing really.
whats the point in using ARC when Tailscale works on your iOS device? shouldnt you be able to play your music from your roon core/server at home directly via regular roon-remote app?
My Roon remote app doesn't connect to the Roon server with Tailscale on. And even if it would, you can't use your phone as endpoint.
