Android auto to carplay wireless adapter?
Hello,
I am wondering if it is possible to have a wireless adapter that identifies itself as being an android auto device but connects to my iPhone using carplay and displays carplay. My vehicle has issues with carplay support, but supports android auto much better, and wanted to know if this is a possibility.
I have seen a lot of adapters that will translate Android auto into carplay for a vehicle and I was wondering if the reverse is also possible as it would help me greatly.
Hey man! Give OttoCast! It identifies as Carplay but in my case it displayed AA.
This should give you the desired result. However the issue here is OTTOCAST doesn't support anything more than single finger input. Like you can't pinch to zoom or drag in maps for example. And it has a slight lag.
I bought and returned but not I use Carsifi.
This is specifically a Wireless AA unit.
I don't think you're going to find an adapter that would trick a head unit to think your Apple device is using Android Auto then display Carplay.
There are adapters that will work with Android apps you install on an Android based head unit to emulate either an Android Auto or Carplay head unit, that's probably what you've seen.
What is the unit call? To have Andriod auto that emulate as carplay?

On a serious note, I think you made an error in bold. You meant to say there's a lot of wired CP to wireless AA dongle. Yes there's a lot of such dongle with AA piggybacking CarPlay protocol but there isn't a reverse afaik.
There's no dual AA+CP dongle with each on its own protocol either until now i.e. AAWireless CarPlay support is in beta but it's not piggybacking AA protocol afaik so I'm not sure if it will help your case.
CarlinKit 5.0/2Air/X2Air identifies as either Android Auto or Apple Carplay, when you plug it in, nothing appears on the car screen until you connect to the Bluetooth connection with your phone, then it either shows AA or AC.
Oh so Carlinkit now has dual AA+CP with each on its own protocol it seems. Wouldn't help OP though since he wants to use CP through AA connection.
