Is there a guide anywhere?

I tried installing Linux Mint but if I select the first option from the installation Iso it just leads to a black screen, and compatibility mode also freezes on during boot. It hangs on a message regarding vga.

Is there a step I'm missing? I tried both the Linux and Ubuntu presets (mint is Ubuntu based)

Is there a guide anywhere? I can't find any or at least a modern one.
