How can I set up custom resolution (ultra wide 3840x1620) on AMD Radeon card 7900XTX LG CX48" AMD Adrenaline

Help (Monitor)

hi guys,

so I currently have an AMD Radeon 7900XTX and I am struggling getting an ultra wide custom resolution working. When I try it via AMD Adrenaline driver it always says my G.Clock is invalid but when I try lowering that so that invalid error dissappears, it says my display is incompatible with this specific resolution. I usually have NVIDIA cards and there it worked like a charm. I tried 38401x1600, 3840x1620 and 3840x1646. I can't seem to get any of those working.

Obviously I was looking for past threads where people wanted to do the same, but almost all of them have either NVIDIA cards where its literally done in 20seconds or they always suggest to use CRU for that, but I tried that also. The resolutions (via extension block -> detailed resoltuin) that I create in CRU don't appear in Windows at all and I have no idea what to do anymore.

Is anyone here playing on a LG TV with a ultra wide res?

Any help would be really appreciated! I can't be that complicated, can it?

Create custom resolution within Radeon software, dont forget to enter the new resolution pixels on two lines, top row and one line farther down. I always forgot second one amd got message u are seeing. Ince it takes, it will be avaieto select in windows display options.

so i created a custom resolution in radeon software but how do i set this resolution i just created as the default windows resolution?

This is like 8 months too late, but thank you! This helped me. To clarify for anyone else who stumbles upon this:

In AMD Adrenaline:

Gaming > Display > Custom Resolutions > Create New

Resolution (px): 3840 x 1600 (or 2560 x 1080)

Timing Display: Match the resolution you inputted above

I left all other settings as-is/default.

Windows Settings > Display > Display resolution

Your custom resolution should appear in the list (look closely) and you can set it there.

I also use an LG OLED (C3), in the Game Optimizer settings go to Picture, then scroll to the bottom to find Wide Aspect Ratio and set it to 21:9.
