Best Higher-end ONVIF Cameras for Blue Iris
I'm currently planning for a future Blue Iris setup with ONVIF-compatible cameras. In the past I had used a PTZ Anpviz and an 8MP Amcrest. Both cameras are mediocre but get the job done. Sometimes I see weird variability in the FPS on the Amcrest but it's usually temporary.
Are there other, perhaps more recommended, ONVIF-compatible camera brands that are actually reputable (non-Chinese) and maybe even have yearly release cycles? My Anpviz, for example, doesn't even have firmware updates available to download on the support page for the camera. It's like they just release cameras and forget about them.
I'd also love to be able to purchase an ONVIF camera that has a better image sensor.
I know I could always just use the Ubiquiti cameras but then I'd have to use their NVR instead of Blue Iris.
Does anyone have any recommendations that I might have missed or is this the best you can get?
And I've been hearing a lot about Frigate, does it actually support non-ONVIF cameras? Could be an alternative to Blue Iris
Annke NC800 or Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2-LSU-SL-2.8mm. Basically the same camera but the Annke is sold directly to consumers but the Hikvision is installer only but you can buy them on ebay.
Without a doubt the best cameras without spending a tone of money
Isn't Hikivision the brand that's practically owned by the CCP? My cameras are all on their own VLANs anyways so it's not a big deal, but I still prefer to stay away from that haha

Ubiquiti is not onvif conformant. I know there has been talk about this at length but as it stands today they have no devices that are conformant. Ubiquiti has always been a closed environment. Unifi/ubiquiti onvif is a tale as old as time, from before mosses wore pants..
Camera Vendors that match your criteria:
Panasonic I-Pro
Axis
Avigilon
Hanwha
Vivotek
**uniview (yes I know they are Chinese, but lesser evil of the hikua prc conglomerate)
Not a fan of frigate, advertising video don’t match what it can actually do, 24/7 + motion events being a big issue that I remember.
Blueanus is not gr8 but better than frigate, has a cost for OS and application which the Linux opensource apps don’t.
Thanks for the recommendations! Checking them out now, the Panasonic ones seem pretty nice! They aren't just rebranded chinese cameras I hope haha.
Are there any 20MP cameras out there?
Not to dig up a dead post, but ubiquiti now allows you to use ONVIF cameras in its protect system. Cameras just need to be connected to the network.
