Best Thermostat for Home Assistant?
I am shopping for a smart thermostat to integrate with HA, and I am wondering which one would be best to use?
I see Ecobee no longer accepts dev key creation and the HomeKit doesnt really expose everything its capable of (like Air quality). I am looking at some honeywell products but it looks like they no longer make Z-Wave devices although some older discontinued models exist with Zwave such as the T6.

From what I can see they still make the T6. They are just harder to get because “only professionals can get them”. If you are in canada I can send you a link on where to get them. In my opinion, they are still the best option.
Check out Venstar.
They have a local API and a HA integration. This is the one I’m looking to get if I ever decide to upgrade mine.
I think it depends on what you are looking for in a thermostat. I used to have an Ecobee 3 but ended up disabling all of the smart functions and programming it all myself. I don't recommend doing this but I'm an HVAC engineer so I felt comfortable with it.
My current house came with a zoned system with two dumb Honeywell tstats. I was able to swap those out with the Honeywell T-6 Pro Z-wave tstats. They are just dumb programmable stats that have Z-wave. The best part was that they used the original tstats' baseplates so I didn't even need to drill anything or reconnect wires.
I set the programming on it depending on the time of day since I don't need the upstairs to be perfect in the middle of the day. But I WFH full time and my wife works 2 days per week so I don't mess with the occupancy programming that I could do with HA. Of course, I'm sure my electric bills reflect that.
FYI Honeywell still has the T-6 Pro on their website but you need to get a professional to install it. Or do what I did and buy it from Amazon. I think it's just one of those products that are reserved for contractors.
My Ecobee works fine with the HomeKit workaround
You should look into Tado. Although I'm not sure if it's available in the US.
It's a smart thermostat with smart radiator knobs with a built in thermostat. So you can heat each room individually with an app. Also links with home assistant
Yeah, doesnt look likes its available here :(
I have a nest and it works fine (after i paid my 5$)
Believe a new nest has been announced with matter! So the integration might be easier at some point.
I may upgrade just so I don’t have to keep logging into my google dev account 😂
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMa7XH2 I use this extremely cheap one
Has anyone tried the Alarm.com ADC-T40K-HD Z-Wave thermostat as seen here: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/alarm-com-adc-t40k-hd
