I have the Slim 5, same model you're looking at. Fantastic machine, the 4070 is great, no bottlenecking from the CPU. I did upgrade RAM to 32gb right after first boot so I can't comment on the performance with the single 16gb stick.

Thinking to upgrade the RAM as well. Can you tell me which stick it is? I have the same legion but have only one 16gb stick

Get the slim, with ryzen you’ll get a decent battery life and temps while gaming. Also this one has 4070.

The 4070 is still way better deal

The processing power is not that much diff , and screen is okay u can always buy a diff external screen down the line if u really need and the 4070 is plenty power already

That GPU will show the age faster than cpu for most people. That's y it's better to go for better GPU

Thanks to all advice guys, I got the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16ARP9 Ryzen 7 7735HS GeForce 4070 16GB 1TB SSD. More GPU power is better than having more CPU power. I got at 928$ discounted price. Quite affordable price.

OP, I would not listen to these comments at all. Everyone here is only considering the 4060 vs the 4070. You probably should wait a little bit for a sale and get the pro model, which comes with the 240 hz 500 nit display and the 4070, and also has better temps and build quality. And iirc it's less than $150 more.

The 500 nit display is quite a bit brighter than the 300 nit display, and on a laptop the display is really important. Also, the slim model is made completely of hard plastic, but the pro model has an aluminum lid.

For reference, I got the Legion Pro 5i for $1379 pre-tax

Legion Pro 5i has both the 4070 and the better display, and better build quality and temps. It's worth the price difference

The Slim also has an aluminum lid. Playing RDR2 and Cyberpunk in performance mode, dlss set to quality, ray tracing on, the GPU pulling 138 watts I've never gotten above 75°. Cooling on the Slim is good. Benchmarks in Time Spy are on the 13k range, just fyi.

For reference, I got the Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 for $1149 pre tax.

The slim is better by far
