Is MSI Sword 16 HX B13VFKG-652IN a good gaming laptop
I'm planning to buy MSI sword 16 HX (model mentioned in title). It has intel xore i9-13980hx cpu and RTX 4060 8Gb gpu with 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.
From the specs it seems like a great laptop to me, it's way cheaper in sale currently, so after utilising all the offers I'm getting it for 1,12,740 INR (~1343 USD).
I've also looked up the benchmark of the CPUs and GPUs and it seems i9-13980HX is having higher benchmark (around 47000) than the latest i9-14900HX (around 45000). The 14th gen might be good with single core performance AFAI understand but comparing the prices of the laptop, it is way much cheaper. Also the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 laptop gpus doesn't seem to have a big difference.
I'm buying it for programming + gaming. Can anyone give me suggestions on this? or provide better alternatives around this price. I need to buy it within a day or two because once sale is ended or this laptop is out of stock, I don't think prices will become this low again.

I visited the MSI brand store today to check out the laptop. They didn't have the exact variant but the same laptop with the i7 variant so the rest of the things are as is.
I got to know that the i9-13980hx doesn't have a 240hz panel, it comes with a 144Hz FHD+ panel.
Also the build quality is not that satisfying. The touchpad seems to be okayish.
The only plus point of the laptop is it has a powerful CPU with 32 GB RAM in this price range. So if you are on a tight budget then this is a great option to go for. As you won't get the specs at this cost (considering the card offer on flipkart).
I visited the ROG store as well to check out the strix and zyphrus series. I wanted to check the ROG Strix G16, which has the same processor as this one with the same Gcard but with 16GB RAM instead of 32. This one has the QHD+ 240Hz with a 500 nits panel. The TGP is also higher than the MSI Sword 16HX (140W while Sword has 115W). And I was really impressed with the overall build quality.
The touchpad, screen and keys are quite satisfactory. Since I want to use it for tasks and personal use other than gaming, the touchpad and keyboard matters to me as I won't always be carrying a separate keyboard and mouse all the time.
It is quite costly compared to MSI Sword 16HX. But when I inquired at other stores like Croma (For non-indian peeps: it's a retail store like Costco). And they are giving me a pretty good deal with the said laptop. It's like 20k INR (~238 USD) cheaper than the flipkart price.
So I've decided to go with the ASUS ROG Strix G16 i9-13980HX with RTX 4060 variant. I'm also getting a pretty good cashback offer so it's even cheaper with no interest EMI option.
So I recommend you guys checkout your nearest retailers and you might get a pretty good deal offline. If they say higher price, just show them the flipkart or Amazon price and they will most probably offer you the same or lesser price.
For the indian peeps, I would recommend you to hurry up and checkout the retail stores tomorrow as after the flipkart amazon sales are over, the retailers will also increase the price and you won't be able to get a good deal until new models with latest gen technologies are available in the market. And also AFAIK flipkart's big billion has the biggest discount on such things, all the other sales will not be having this much price drops throughout the year.

Thanks a lot for the update bro. How much exactly you got strix for.. i was already having doubts about msi build quality because i travel a lot. And that false description and images thing is a mess. Rn I am onto buying just the asus tuf i7 13620h with 4060. It’s slightly weaker than msi counterpart but i saw videos where msi was underpowered, plus the build and battery is nicer in tuf. Btw where are you from

Hi Did you buy this laptop? Does it have a 240hz or 144hz display? Is it 100% dcip-3 display? What is the brightness nits of this laptop?
I purchased this laptop yesterday, I am highly satisfied by cost to performance ratio. The Multicore score is not as High as Other i9 13980hx laptops, there is a power limit, since the brick is only 200 Watts, In terms of thermals though this one is good, and stays cool even in heavier loads. I do hardware designs, simulations that require quite of compute and RAM, here this shines, I also ran Solidworks and it works like a delight.
I am coming from Acer Nitro i7 12650h and 4050, that one was a piece of crap with very bad thermals.
Yes the screen is not that good, but can be fixed with an external monitor.
I some review of same device I saw I can upgrade the ram upto 96GB which is sick plus the GEN5 ssd slot, and yes the 24 zone rgb keyboard is a cherry.
