What is your experience with the Surface Laptop Studio 2?

[LAPTOPSTUDIO2]

I haven’t experienced any noteworthy problems. It gets hotter than I’d like, batt life is lower than I’d like, it’s heavier than I’d like, and it’s definitely more expensive than I’d like BUT none of these are critical, and overall it’s a really well-made machine with many nice touches.

The pen holding area, the touchscreen responsiveness (and screen quality overall), the screen positioning options, and the trackpad are all excellent, power and speed are what it says on the tin, and it’s a really beautiful, solidly-built device.

All in all, if it were about $500-1,000 cheaper (depending on configuration) and/or had battery life comparable to the MBP, I’d say it was perfect. As it is, I don't regret spending my company's money to buy it, but if it were my money I guess I'd probably go with the MPB as a better value...

i dont know about you but i use a surface studio 2 for autocad 9 hrs a day and i can use the laptop for 2-3 days without being on a charger.

I7 13700 Intel

Nvidia RTX 4050

3 monitors on 2 usb docking stations

Every Dell or HP i have used for autodesk product would kill the laptop battery within 6 hrs and those were high end Dell and HP

I ended up making the switch. I didn't need the extra power but the SLS2 is more future proof than the SLS1 was when it came out.

Fan noise is about the same as the SLS1, when you are gaming it fires up but don't hear much outside of that, I haven't rendered anything on this one but assume it would fire up for that as well.

yes they did as noted. The lighter grey keys have at least stopped people from thinking its a mac book

Battery life, if you are cool with 4-6 hours of non gaming, then its okay.

the USB-A port is stiff. If you get it, I would recommend testing it with USB-A plugs on repeat before pushing a mouse dongle.

my question to you is, how much do you use the touchscreen/pen on your SLS? if its sporadic or non-existent then get the mac

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I use the touchscreen/pen quite extensively for 2D animation. It is a must-have.

I think the SLS2 would work well for my use case.

Trackpad is a pita. Good amount of issues reported. Not something you'd want to pick up on Marketplace or eBay, or Open Box, because you may need to exchange it- and after the first month since first bootup they'll send you a refurbished if you're going through the Microsoft warranty. So beware "Open Box".

This has been my experience.

Everything else is fine but I have my suspicions about the longevity of the trackpad, even if the replacement initially works. Think it's a hardware issue.

Interesting. I heard the trackpad is better than the SLS (my current device is gen 1).
