Studio would be better for your use case, but Im not a fan of the device. Its large and clunky. The Pro is far more portable. If you care about portability, consider getting the Pro 9 and an external GPU for gaming.

None.

Surface Studio its Ok, buth the cpu oh men.. And the gpu only with 4gb vram , it's not future prof. Wait for the refresh.

Ps: My main computer is a SLS

I'm running a SB2. I want to upgrade. I'm holding off until the SLS2 comes out.

What kind of gaming? If it's anything more than esports titles or some indie games and some older games you need a more powerful GPU.

You can game on a Surface Pro/Go. That is, less graphically taxing Game Pass games (like Zoo Tycoon), PSP emulator (dolphin), Purble Place.

studio would be better honestly. the surface pro has decent hardware but isn't necessarily super strong. the surface pro is meant for decent performance along with extreme portability!

If you want gaming you would be better with the Surface Laptop Studio if we're comparing the two.

SL9 is great for portability.

Or you could consider an SL4/SL5 over the SL9 if you'd rather a traditional laptop (won't be as good for games in comparison to the studio though)

Surface Pro only runs Iris XE graphics and isn't particularly good for gaming.

If you want to do both, I'd suggest the Laptop Studio. However, we're expecting to see an updated version of the Laptop Studio this fall at the Surface Hardware event where they'll probably introduce updated chips and up the GPU to the 40 series, so I'd highly recommend waiting if possible to get the most out of your purchase.

I'm looking to buy it refurbished as i don't want to pay such a high amount. i dont play very demanding titles and the most demanding would probably be like rdr2 or minecraft with shaders :P. is the cpu (i5 ver) really as bad as people make it out to be?

Neither for gaming. The SLS cooling can't handle prolonged gaming sessions, and the Pro 9 obviously has no real GPU.

I'd maybe get the Pro 9 for portability + light CAD, but know it probably won't handle analysis or complex models. And get a monitor, mouse, and keyboard for when the small screen doesn't cut it. And just don't worry about heavy games. There are plenty of indies and lighter games to enjoy. Plus you can get out and enjoy college life.

The SLS is a cool idea with poor execution. It's thick, heavy, and feels a little flimsy. There are gaming laptops I'd rather carry around. Plus it's performance is not great, and it's cooling is not up for prolonged gaming.

How important is the pen feature?
