Does anyone on here actually use AniDB? if so why?
I don't mean this question in a rude way, but I genuinely don't know anyone who actually uses AniDB as their main anime tracking/community site. In fact, I don't know anyone who uses that site PERIOD, so I'm genuinely curious to find out why would I ever consider using AniDB over other tracking/community sites like MAL, Anilist, Kitsu, or Anime-Planet. Like what are the best qualities of AniDB? Are there any unique features that only AniDB offers that would incentivize me to use the site? If you are someone who uses that site, could you please explain why you like it over other animes sites? I would love to hear any and all thoughts regarding this topic, thanks in advance for your input.
I don't use it to track anime but I use it when I need information about some anime since from what I have seen it is the most complete when it comes to listing staff, seiyuu, songs, broadcast information, fansub groups and who knows what else.
AniDB's search engine and tag system are more powerful than any others I regularly use. More complex and less easy to use, but great if I want to find shows with narrow criteria.
For example, finding original (non-adaptation) anime that have a strong element of romance and aren't harems or ecchi. Neither MyAnimeList nor AniList let you search for certain genres while excluding others, and neither lets you search by source material type (manga, novel, etc.) to my knowledge. I admittedly haven't used Kitsu or Anime-Planet enough to know their capabilities.

Useful for the average person? Maybe not, but after watching hundreds of series sometimes I want something specific.
AniDB has the best database for finding staff.
One could pose the same question about Kitsu or the various other trackers. I don't see a whole lot of difference between all the sites. They're all essentially clones of one another.
I'm only signed up one MAL so I'm curious too if there's any unique features on the sites when you're signed up and logged in or anything that's not obvious when browsing them.
I use it for checking which fansub groups have subbed or released a show, but not much else. The UI is far too clunky to use effectively, even if their database is extremely detailed and large overall.
I don’t use it to track my anime, but I do use it for its detailed tag system.
I don't use it as a tracking site, but I use it all the time when I want to learn detailed information about an anime's staff. They generally have much better and more detailed breakdowns of staff than MAL, ANN, or any other database site.
AniDB has it's niche community due to being super, super detailed with a lot of information. I'd probably use it too if the UI wasn't annoying to navigate, but that's mainly why I use AniList.
If only it didn't have such an awful user experience. It has tons of info but browsing it is a pain in the ass.
