Are optical HDMI a better choice over standard ones?
I didn't know there were optical HDMI cables till recently. So my question is, are they better or offer any advantages?
I am moving soon and as I am setting everything up, hiding cables, tying up and so on I'd rather upgrade them now if they are worth it and just be done with it.
But didn't know if there were problems with like say e arc connections on my TV for sound bars or game consoles.
I'll be using them for like my PS5, PC to monitor, 4k player to a q OLED tv and so on. A lot of my devices and tvs support HDMI 2.1.
Basically I want to make sure I have the best I can reasonably have and not worry about it for a while.
Thanks for your time.
lol, you realize it’s the same certifications right? Or have you just made up an argument to try and discredit me because you don’t have an argument against the over heating problem and hyper fragility of the cables. Come on bro it’s 2024, we’re all used to people without an argument trying to discredit the people telling them they are wrong…that’s been going on for over a decade now😂
I'm not trying to discredit you. I'm saying your 900-foot strip mall fiber run and the OP's 50-foot fiber / optical pre-terminated HDMI cable are completely ballparks.
When you tell a technician it’s out of their realm because it’s in a house and not an office, that’s an attempt at dismissal by discreditation. It’s a common tactic usually deployed in frustration or bad faith. My point is fiber is being used less and less for interconnection for a reason. If someone is going to ask are these cables worth it, the answer is no they are too fragile, spend a little more and get BaseT. It’s that simple.
Dude, why so serious... I'd offer a reply or opinion, but clearly that's not what you're here for. Good day, Sir!
