Installing windows 11 pro on legion go?

QUESTION

I plan on buying a legion go soon, and am going to swap the 512gb nvme drive with a 2tb. I've seen a few videos on doing this so I think i'll be fine.

But my question is, can I install my copy of windows 11 pro on it?

the 2tb nvme install videos all mentioned getting a usb recovery drive from lenovo to restore it. can this system not boot from a usb drive and install windows 11 normally?

Will I have to do something fancy like somehow preinstall win11pro on the nvme drive before I put it in?

thanks for any help!

Just set it up normally (recovery through Lenovo) then buy a Windows pro key and update it. It will work fine.

I forgot that you can do an upgrade from home -> pro without the need to reinstall : ) that would be the easiest.

although it would require a new key for me, as the win11 keys I have are not upgrade keys, but retail install keys -- or maybe that doesn't matter anymore. I'll try it!

thanks.

Just use MassGravel’s activation script and upgrade to Pro and activate. Quick, free, easy.

Upgrade win to pro on the original SSD with your lincense and after that clone it to the new SSD, i did the same

Yes, it's basically a laptop. You'll need to plan ahead though. I installed Windows from a USB stick made with Media Creation tool. You're going to need a USB hub, a mouse, keyboard, and download all of the drivers from Lenovo, especially WiFi drivers. Windows does not have most of these drivers built in so for instance, you won't be able to connect to the Internet unless you install the drivers first.

Yes this. For fresh installation You won’t have wifi to finish windows installation so you need to install the wifi driver somehow or use wired connection through dock/dongle. I didn’t need mouse / keyboard .

Thanks. so sounds like as long as I have my drivers downloaded on a flash drive, have a kb/mouse attached thru a hub, I can set this thing up as normal. I was just worried as the places I saw about reinstalling windows all used the recovery drive from lenovo.

thanks!
