Best modem or router I can use? Besides the one they provide.
Just looking for something that would be better than the one they provide. I’ll be living in a small apartment.

What speeds are you getting for Xfinity? That would help determine what kind of equipment you need.
Using a CM 3000 Netgear router with the Asus Zen Wi-Fi BT10 2-units. I always buy my own equipment.
Don’t have the service yet, but I’m going to purchase the 1000mbps package.
If you're going to purchase a modem, get one on the next generation list. When your area becomes mid-split enabled you will have a device capable of the speed offered.
What
I have the Synology RT6600ax router and it has been great. Coupled with the Arris Surfboard SB8200. I am also on Xfinity 1Gbps.
Arris S33 or S34 work great
Hitron Coda56 + ubiquiti is what my firm deploys to clients
Comcast will routinely do maintenance "upgrades" and will render your modem useless. This has happened to me twice already.

Thanks, I was looking for more human-experience input though.
Currently running a combination of an Arris S33 modem and Eero Mesh 6 Router.
I also have the S33. What is your upload speed? I'm only getting 23 Mbps even though my plan says I should be getting 150 Mbps.
Depends on how you define "better". If you want to plug it in and forget it, lease the Xfinity gateway. Most of the adjustments and settings are locked down. You do pay a monthly fee, but if something goes wrong they will replace it at no cost.
If you want to tweak and tune the settings, get a modem off of the Next Gen certified hardware list and attach a router of your choice.
Idk, I just want my internet to be as fast as possible with the plan I purchase.
