LG C4 suffers from Temporary burn in

I had the impression that OLEDS didn’t really have burn in problems but it seems it’s still a problem even on the latest C4 model. It would go away after a few seconds then comes back.

OLED is one of the very few TV types that have known burn-in issues.. don't know where you would've gotten the impression that they don't.

However, burn-in, where image retention is permanent, is usually a long term issue. It's caused by the organic material simply wearing out over time. This kind of burn-in is gradual and irreversible. Temporary image retention is also a problem with OLEDs but this can either go away within seconds to minutes or when a compensation cycle is run.

This video explains it in a lot of detail with a lot of examples: 8 Month Update! OLED Burn-in vs. Temporary Image Retention & Buggy Compensation Cycles (youtube.com)

So every oled TV has retention even if it lasts seconds?

Return it or sell if you careless with the OLED and get mini led. If you love OLED vary content and don’t keep your OLED on static images and you will be fine

Is it normal though to have retention? It’s not a fault?

I've got a 5 year Best Buy warranty. I use my TV how I want without worry.

I had a 4 year warranty on the C9, i got burn in from playing overwatch at 4 years and 5 months... ( or at least that's when i noticed it )

I hear ya. Originally, I went from CX to C3. When I upgrade, I'm going for a G plus hopefully increasing the size.

Man it's not calculus 😂. There's ghosting then there's wtf have I done burn-in which is actual damage to the display. OLEDs have a mandatory break-in period of around 100 hours.but go ahead and listen to that geek squad guy, Lol. I typically would game for a few hours then watch a movie or a few Anime eps before shutting it down when my OLEDs were new. Upon OLEDs release burn-in data was raging everywhere as mindless people were destroying their new OLEDs treating them like cheap LED TVs😂. When I snagged my C1 I watched everything without a static image for that recommended 100 hours while the pixels stabilized, at least that's the time frame manufacturers hoped they would. It's probably overkill, but it's worked for all my OLEDs and it's better than destroying your new TV.

6,043 hours on C4 77" over 1,000 on apex no burn in, t.v is on 10 hours a day minimal.

Not sure why some people get burn in, I'll have stale bright images on my c4 10-15 hours a day everyday and never burn in, same with my C3 with over 10,000 hours of static image.. 0 burn in. Burn in is a non existent issue for me I don't think about it, it won't happen. Just let your t.v rest for 10min every 4 hours and don't play on max brightness.. simple
