Can't find BIOSrenamer - how change name?
Hi here's a link to the motherboard and the Bios i want to download and move to. It says " " Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (C7HWIFI.CAP) using BIOSRenamer."" - however, there is nowhere for me to download "BIOSrenamer" - the guides online i watched always have the BIOSrenamer downloading with the file but that doesnt happen for me. Can i use BRenamerl instead to do this? Please can someone help me, i am tearing my hair out over this.

According to https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/asus-bios-flashback-renamer.2705121/ it seems you can just rename the file using Windows Explorer like you would any other file.
Still, I don't understand why Asus doesn't provide the file with the right name already, or why they make a dedicated utility for such a basic operation as renaming a file, which anyone should be able to perform.
yeah I managed to find a response from a Asus support employee which said the same thing. What I don't understand is why on earth put on the BIOS download a note telling you to specifically use biosrenamer to do the renaming, i guess copy and pasted from a previous model. Its just sloppy. I am a total noob - this is my first build and stuff like this has made the experience so utterly shit, literally wasting hours looking for simple info.
It's because the name on it when you download the bios identifies the version, but the bios needs the file to have the same name every time.
old thread but biosrenamer named my bios to one thing, and my motherboard manual tells me to call it something else.. amazing
I know this is an old post, but I stumbled on it while searching for the same info. Turns out Asus supply BIOSrenamer WITH the bios file! Here is this full instructions:

Thanks dude! Good luck with your similar pc troubles!
Just a heads up this "tool" note is from the early early days of asus built in apps
And here stands I, … off in the mist; years later screaming why the renamer didn’t put .CAP at the end but apparently I can? But do I ? I’m downstairs scratching my fucking head being like “what if I just rename the file ??? For like an hr I’m contemplating being my recent pc died a week ago “NOT!!! wanting to go thru all this again back to back. (B450 bios chip corrupted) needs actual flash from technician.
I’m thinking there gonna be an invisible.CAP and my .CAP
.CAP.CAP …. 💩 so, can I just rename it or will a 2nd board die on me?
Spanks
***edit, so I’m back 20 minutes later. Talking to myself here, the file showed .CAP, after I said yes and it said do you really want to update bios I hit enter then showed
“File name” .CAP .CAP
2 of those! I was gripping my asscheeks hoping it would only read the first .CAP, it did …. Thank god I’m in.
This thread has withstood many a day... I humbly bow to the sacred tomes left us by the ancients. In your honor I toast, as your wisdom has guided another wayward soul in his near hopeless search for the cryptic BiosRenamer, foul scourge and blight on all those who dare install updates on second hand MOBO's!!!
Hazzah!!!
I was searching for this same issue and came across this 4 year old post that keeps being necroed. My turn.
When I extracted the file in windows, the tool was in the same folder as the file. Running the tool updates the file's name.
