Drivers on Unraid
Hello Still fairly new to Unraid and this whole type of OS
Do i need to do driver updates, and if so, is there an easy way or a how to somehwere?
I've tried looking, with little to no luck
Edit:: Thank you all very much :)
usually no, like 99% no. But a few special devices do need drivers, such as NVIDIA Graphics cards, or IPMI integration. Usually they are then provided by a plugin.
This makes it super easy to upgrade hardware, such as replacing a motherboard.
Also getting some HW sensors sometimes requires an additional app to be installed from community applications. But everything else should work out of the box.
Nop, it's directly include inside the linux kernel ship with unraid. It's update when you update unraid.
Most driver support is built-in to the OS. Support for anything newer than 2010 is probably in there.
If you decide to use a graphics card for transcoding, you'll need the Nvidia driver for that, but there are plenty of guides out there showing where to get it.

Every now and again, there will be a little banner across the top of your server's admin pages telling you there's a new version available. It will have an option to upgrade.
I'd suggest that you wait a week or two before upgrading and check in here before doing so, as sometimes bugs slip through.
Other than that, and the fact that your server is unavailable for the x minutes it takes to reboot, it's painless.
