Is the brightness on the LG C4 (game mode) really that bad?
Hello everybody,
If I read this sub and somebody asks to choose between a G3 and C4, about 98% of the answers will be the G3. Especially because of the brightness. In all reviews it keeps coming back that the C4 is not as bright as the G-series, and even in comparison with Samsung S90D series. Especially in game mode.
But is it really worth that price bump just for more brightness? Instead of being more comfortable about buying a C4 TV, I'm getting more and more affraid to get one. Is it really that bad? Or is it just worse compared to one of the brightest OLEDs in the market?
Currently I'm watching on a 8 year old 50 inch Samsung LED TV which means it will be a mayor upgrade. But after all that reading, I'm even afraid that the C4 will be a worse game experience compared to my TV now, just because of the brightness.. I think I'm really overthinking this too much but I'm too excited to get a new TV to be dissapointed when I launch a game on my PS5 when I have it.
PS: I'm so excited I drove to a store closeby (where I will not be buying) which displays the LG OLED C and G series just to stand there for 15 minutes watching a LG demo movie over and over.
No. It's plenty bright.
Go back to the store and grab the remote. Turn on game mode and see if it’s bright enough for you. I’ve got a c3 in a well lit room for my ps5 pro. Ya it does dim. But I can live with it
The C4 is so bright it hurts my eyes when I watch HDR content.
It’s overhyped. I play PS5 on my 77 C4 at night. I have to turn down the brightness otherwise whites scald the eyes.
I was between the C4 and G3 about a month ago, ultimately decided to go with the C4 because its a newer model and for the price of a G3 55” i was able to get a C4 65” and free soundbar (through Currys in the UK).
Really happy with it and no complaints, only gaming i do is on a nintendo switch and i had the brightness down to 85
G series will be better than C series but plenty of reviews say that the C series is great for the gaming even if the G series will be better.
It all comes down to money but you wont go wrong with either option
I have a 48 inch C1 that I use to play Gran Turismo on my ps5. My room is not well lit and I sit 5 feet away from the tv.
During race, cars in front of you is pretty shiny and can glint. Since it's a small section of the TV, it cranks the brightness the highest the C1 can produce (I think). To be honest, I have 100 hours in, and there're still moments when that glint is so bright, I honestly had to close my eyes.
It scores like 0.1 less than the B4 according to Rtings. Yet, the B4 is somehow a lot brighter? The score doesn't make any sense then.
I just picked up a 77" C4 last week. It's in a very sunny room, but I still think it's more than bright enough. I was also somewhat hesitant to get a C4 because of it's supposed limited brightness, but turns out I was worried for nothing.
1.- I'm in the same boat and ended up asking a buddy of mine who plays XBox in the C4 and he says he doesn't notice it getting dimmer. When I asked him about that issue he looked at me all weird and he said "it gets dimmer?". 2.- According to the most recent review I found online it gets dimmer because it brings contrast up to make the gaming experience better. 3.- I've thought about getting the S90D from Samsung but I don't like that they don't do Dolby Vision. 4.- I am currently at my in laws who have a 65 Sony XR65L OLED from last year and let me tell you this thing is perfectly bright and insane if you put it in "Vivid". I would actually buy one of these BUT they don't make it in 75. I think that for both of us it will be a serious upgrade since I'm coming from a fairly newish LG Nanocell that got the backlight system messed up during our move. I personally will buy whoever gives me a better deal/discount. Where do you see the G3 for less money? I'm in the US and the G3 is actually pricier than a G4.
The fuck lmao? My C1 is so bright in game mode I regularly tune it to minimum energy saver and sometimes medium. All this shit is absurd.
