LG C4 Game Mode

Does anybody know if Game Mode/Game Optimizer has been improved on the C4? I'm shopping around for a new TV and the C3 is a top candidate, but the supposedly dimmer game mode has me hesitant to pull the trigger. If the C4 fixed this issue I don't mind ponying up the extra cash for the new model. I will primarily be using the TV for gaming (both HDR and SDR) so the picture while in game mode is very important to me.

I have the C3 and I see no issues with the game mode at all. Looks fantastic

I also use game mode and enjoy it, but is yours night noticeably darker than regular or vivid?

The only thing I can think of is that you're talking about HGIG. While it slightly dimms the picture it gives you more accurate colors. You can turn it off or instead of HGIG turn on "Dynamic Tone Mapping."

I have a C2 42 and 55 and they’re plenty bright for gaming. I have brightness at 65 and that’s still too bright at times.

I have g3 and game mode is dimmer. So i use filmaker for games on ps5. It has allm, so latency is the same as game mode. There are guides for this setup. Hgig will not be available. I think c3 is the same.

Colors are not accurate in game mode on my C3, I have to put color to warm

Isn’t this common practice for every use case? Any settings guide I’ve watched or read before have you do this within the first few steps.

C4 still has color booster disabled in game mode, on the G4 it’s fixed.

It is NOT dimmer. Everyone who tells you this BS talks about HGIG. hgig looks dimmer but more accurate. If you want these fake vivid bright colours you can use DTM.

Is that what's going on at 11:05 in the below video? Just a case of using the wrong settings? It sucks not having any stores nearby to demo a unit so I have to rely on videos.

150% brighter

(This is a big “trust me bro”… take with a LARGE grain of salt)…I read a forum once that game mode essentially takes away the TV’s picture processing so you get the purest graphics signal with lowest latency possible. If the game is optimized correctly, hgig actually looks better than dtm. It’s that way with the game stellar blade, to my naked eye. I think LGs game mode is technically the most accurate out of any tv. Game devs probably grade HDR in a subdued way because they know most consumers don’t change their TV settings, and the default settings of a tv usually like to artificially brighten the image and is not very accurate.

Nintendo switch in sdr in game mode i awful. Its so bad i will return my c4

Same here, I could increase brightness by turning off energy saving, but it’s still disappointing compared to my LED Bravia.
