LG C4 42 or 48 inch as PC Monitor
The sale is pretty good now with the difference in pricing between the 42 and 48 C4 being only $50. Just curious what your experience with the C4 48 inch as a PC Monitor is? Is it going to be too big and uncomfortable for viewing or should I stick to the 42 inch model? Those with the 48 inch, how deep is your desk?
42” is better. I’ve tried both
I've used a 48" LG C1 as a PC monitor for several years, currently approaching 10000 hours on the panel.
I'd strongly recommend 42" for a PC monitor, if it had been available at the time, I would have gone smaller. A year or two down the road I'll likely wind up with a 42" C5 as its replacement. Great display, but 48" is a little too big for a desk.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah that's what I fear. Too big for the 48. I will probably end up with the C4 42. None of the 32 inch 4k interests me at the moment since I have a 49 inch ultra wide and prefer not to go smaller in whatever future buy.
Any burn in?
42 is way bigger than it seems in any picture you find online. it was overwhelming to see mine for the first time. 48 would be to big imo.
the auto dimming never kicked in while i was actively using my computer, only returning from afk. and i believe in the c1/c2 days you had to move entire windows to make it go away. mine goes away with the slightest mouse movement.
Tried 48" for a month but found it too big for anything other than controller games. I sat around 3-4 feet away.
You should know that the TVs have aggressive auto dimming which is annoying for web browsing and productivity
Yes you can disable it but you have to look up online how to do it. It's not as easy as it used to be before.
I did downsize from the 48C1 to the 42C2, so my vote would be on the 42 inch. 48 was too large for desktop gaming in my opinion. Also the 42 inch legs take much less space than the 48 ones, so you can place the tv closer to the rear wall, important if you are not wall mounting or using a monitor arm.
I have a 48 Cx and I love it. But I only play games on it. I’m not bothered by the size, to the contrary. Be it for fps or controllers type games, I love the immersive experience the screen estate brings.
The only drawback I see is the low ppi, which would push me toward a 42 to have something a bit more acceptable, as I do find my screen sometimes not so « 4K » (pixelated)
