Flashing A higher power Bios onto a 7900xtx.
Hi everyone,
I was considering a reference model AMD 7900xtx and water blocking it. Heat dissipation is not a problem so I was wondering if there is a way to up the power limit now that MPT is gone. My idea would be just to take one of the already existing bios's from either the red devil or the nitro plus card and flashing it to the Reference model, but i don't know if this would have any adverse affects that i haven't foreseen. I hear talk of people flashing the 1000w HOF bios onto NVIDIA cards and that's essentially the idea I'm going after.
I am aware that it is generally a bad idea to put that much power through 2 8 pins, but with quality connectors and 16 gauge wire i don't foresee it being an issue.
If anyone has any experience I would love to hear it, thanks in advance.

Unless money no object? I have XFX Rx 7900xt I wouldn't touch mine.
No experience with modern Radeon cards, so can't really help you on the actual question, but what I do have is loads of experience pushing 8pins beyond their spec, and I have never had a single issue. They don't even get warm, no matter how much you abuse them.
Most extreme examples would be my 2x8 2080Ti that was constantly pulling 500W+ and tested up to 700W. Even a 1x8 1080 to 400W.
Thats the same thing, i'm thinking about^^ Reference is here, extern programmer too, but didn't hear that somebody did this. I can't imagine that this is pioneer work :D

Like, honestly all i want is the sapphire 525 watt max power, watercooled you should get one heck of a score
And about the usb port :you have to look, which connection the bios, you are going to flash, has. With changing the bios, you will change the possible connection too. The nitro+ has two HDMI and two DP , compared to my reference, I lost the USB C and one Display Port. But Aqua bios could make problems with the air cooler, when I think about it 🙈 these things you should consider, when you flash your bios ✌️
