When do you unlock magic?

My alchemy and herbalism are both at 20, I have both copies of the necronomicon, I’ve committed MANY sins (murder, theft, sleeping with loose women), I’ve consulted with many a alchemist and herbalist. I wear a dark cloak, I read forbidden texts, and I did cast a few minor spells.
Next thing is I’m gonna try an invocation circle using torches, using necronomicon I as a guide. Does anyone know if sacrifices are supposed to be involved? And if so, should it be a Virgin or can I just knock out a bandit and then curb stomp his stupid ass?
