I just spoke with a sales manager at the MC in Dallas. He said they get shipments 5 days per week, and they will probably be in-person-only purchases for 2-3 weeks, until they no longer need vouchers.
I wish I could know what days. I could only do it on Saturday or Sunday due to working during the week. If I waited a few hours on Saturday morning only to find out there was no shipments, id be a sad boy haha
The Microcenter near me does not allow lines any longer, and it has something to do with the lease, owner of the shopping center. There were fights and issues with the people waiting in line, so they moved to a sign-up list placed on the door. You are allowed to park in the parking lot early, walk up to the door, sign-in, and then, go back to your car and wait. And, then, right before opening, if you get an email, then you can get inline, in an orderly fashion, at opening, walk in, and get your card. They did this with the 4xxx launch.
So, here is the deal. RTX 4xxx series didn't have a scalping issue. I know, because I worked at Microcenter from July 2015 until my last day, which was in late Sept of 2024. Now, the 3xxx series did have a pretty bad scalping issue because of Covid-19. Which was due to component supply constraints and factory closures, along with employee issues. Basically, as we all know, everything was on lockdown. It was a huge mess, and it resulted in supply issues, which caused supply demand, which brought out all the scalpers. But, no, the 4xxx never had the same issues as the 3xxx series did. We had plenty of stock the last 2 years, until recently. There won't be any serious scalping issues with the 5xxx series, as the cards have been in production for 3+ months, or, going on 3+ months by the time they are launched on the 30th of this month. This is why it's been very difficult to buy 4xxx cards over the past 3+ months. Nvidia stopped manufacturing the 4xxx series cards, 2 or 3 months ago, possibly longer. To read up on this, all anyone has to go and do is to do a simple Google search to find this information. Go and do a search for "Nvidia 4000 series video cards have stopped being manufactured," and you will find articles on the subject. What this means is, by the 30th, the release date, 5xxx series cards will have been in production 90 to 120+ days. This means, good stock at launch. We are talking about 2025, new production lines, and an insane demand for AI. I am not sure why people are trying to associate the Covid-19 era launch of the 3xxx series cards, with the 2025 launch of the 5xxx series. It's almost a night a day situation. When I was at Microcenter, we never ever had issues with stock of the 4xxx series cards. It has only been in the last handful of months, 2 or 3, that 4xxx cards were very low on stock, because, again, as explained, most of the models stopped being produced. It does help if you have a Microcenter near you.
Well, Covid broke all of our brains so now we are just conditioned to think that scalping, paying whatever price the vendor wants and a big FOMO backlog are the norm, sadly this hasn't gone away and it's common among just GPU to cars, houses..etc
Thank you for the detailed reply! That makes a lot of sense why you can't find a 40 series card anymore. I am going to a microcenter right outside Philadelphia. I want to go on launch night but if it's crazy I'm worried getting there around 4 or 5am won't be early enough. I'm hoping if I'm unlucky on launch day I'll be able to find one within a couple of weeks after

Thanks for your input. Do you think the stock of high end 5090s will be high on launch ?

After that there would be delivery every week twice per week, but don't count of them having more than 5 units per delivery
