Shaving butter

Is using shave butter okay for shaving with a straight razor? Is shaving soap better? I have found shave butter to be easier but maybe im using the shaving soap wrong.

Have you tried a shaving soap puck like Van Der Hagen? You can get really nice more expensive soaps from Stirling and Barrister & Mann as well, but they're a bit more expensive.

If you like shaving butter you might like to try Cremo or Van Der Hagen's Shaving Butter.

Thank you, i do prefer the shaving butters, i was just wondering if they were only meant to be used with cartridge razors

There is no wrong shaving soap. Do you get lots of cut? Is your shaving good? Is it working for you? If yes to the last two, why change a working solution.

Yes to shaving soaps are better? Why would that be? And the creams do work but every so often when i get cuts or burns i wonder if its because i was doing it hastily or it was the result of the cream being used as opposed to the shaving soap.
