It’s the only way to do denim on denim in my opinion. Mixing colors is the way to go. Looks good to me
If I’m mixing, light on top and dark on the bottom for me. Just looks better IMO
Looks good but a bit more contrast could help. Maybe a white or black shirt would help. Same with the shoes.

I’m a huge denim fan. This looks great.
That being said. Denim clashing is a bold look. It’s either a niche aesthetic or a thoughtless accident lol. But don’t be discouraged from trying it sometime. You can tell when it’s a decision being made. And that level of confidence shows.
As long as the top and bottom are two different shades you should be good. Though I do think a dark denim jacket with dark jeans can look good. Also, what boots are those?
