I've been playing this mod for the past couple days when I was hankering for a run with Guardian and noticed it updated. It's pretty fun, and I'm really impressed at the amount of work that went into it.
I tried this for the first time about a week ago and man, I am floored by the quality of this content.
My issues with this mod are that some characters or sets of cards seem much stronger than other characters. Specifically, I had a very easy time using the Guardian and had a very difficult time managing the Snecko. Additionally, most of the card arts are recolored versions of cards from the base game, but I understand that it's hard to make a large quantity of original high quality art. I also wish that stasis slots and slime slots were new types of effects instead of effects that utilize the orb slots -- in a run with Snecko, I had slimes and stasised cards displacing each other, while I think the more natural way to play would have been to keep those in separate types of slots. However, I don't know what that would involve in terms of modding the game at the coding level.
My praise for the mods is that it's marvelously creative and that characters are extremely, extremely fun to use. It's an amazing spin on Slay the Spire that had me floored frequently. Boss fights are an amazing twist, and there's tons of things to discover, including something at the end of a run that had me absolutely floored with the brilliance of these developers. Visually, characters look extremely well polished and look like they fit in the game, but have mechanics that are all drastically different from the base game characters' styles. In particular, I enjoy playing as the Hexaghost a lot.
It will take a while certainly, but I'm looking forward to the addition of more bosses. This came out just after I'd finished getting all the achievements for the base game and thought I was done, but now I have something else to keep me hooked for at least a hundred more hours.
9/10.
I've played a bit with that mod. Anyone know if it's possible to revert to the original main screen music? I didn't see anything in the mod settings.
I've been loving this mod! Had some issues originally because I couldn't unlock new characters after finishing a run, but turns out to have just been compatibility issue with Infinite Spire. Works fantastic otherwise, and I'm really happy with the unique playstyles of the villains.
Its a really sick mod with some super cool devs! I was in a twitch stream the other day watching a friend play Downfall in which two of the mods stopped by, helped with some trouble shooting, and even killed an event that shouldn't have existed anymore. Def worth checking out!
