This is the subreddit for the Elden Ring gaming community. Elden Ring is an action RPG which takes place in the Lands Between, sometime after the Shattering of the titular Elden Ring. Players must explore and fight their way through the vast open-world to unite all the shards, restore the Elden Ring, and become Elden Lord. Elden Ring was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and made in collaboration with George R. R. Martin. It was developed by FromSoft and published by Bandai Namco.
Locked to 60fps on PC?
I looked it up and apparently I have to download some third party software and open that before the game every single time just to get more than 60fps, surely I'm missing something. Is this 2008? I have a 4090
Use cheatengine to disable the fps limit
Yes its kinda old fashioned to cap a game at 60fps, but it is related to weird way inputs are queued in eldenring, having higher fps opens up more opportunities for bugs, jank and glitches.
But if you dont know how to do those glitches or abuse the bugs the only difference is nicer framerate and smooth gameplay. Which is worth it
Armored Core 6 was capped at 120fps. Which shows promise that the next iteration of a souls game will have better performance
I'd recommend just playing at 60fps!

I have a 4090 as well, but I think I'm going to just pick up this game on PS5. It appears to be a very shitty PC port anyways and it seems like way less of a hassle to just play it on console.
what would be the difference? youd always be getting 60 fps lmao, and itll look better, and you can use a controller. And you could have gotten it cheaper.
Ps5 will letting go below 60 very often lmao.
Oh brother you'll want to avoid the PS5 version of this game. It has a ton of issues. FPS drops to 40. VRR causes screen to flicker due to fps hovering around 40-50 in many areas. Sony has a 48-120hz vrr range on PS5 and ER fps causes it to turn on and off constantly, which creates that flicker. Then there's framepacing issues and stutters.
If you really want it on console, get the PS4 version, disc or digital, and play it on a PS5. It'll give you 60fps all the time. Bonus points you get a free upgrade to ps5 version with ps4 disc. (So you can see the difference yourself) with ps4 digital, well you also get ps5 edition. PS5 disc version is a trap though as you don't get PS4 version.
Idk if Elden Ring or any other Fromsoft game uses animations or other events that are tied to the framerate, hence any higher than 60 might cause things to bug or behave in unintended ways.
That's the only reason I can think of to have a hard locked framerate on PC in this day and age. If there are any other reasons let me know.
Bumping this just to say having your game logic tied to framerate is a AWFUL game development. It's not 2002 anymore, do better.
Fun fact armored core 6 is their first game to let you go above 60 on pc.
nope, say thank you to FromSoftware for this. Same deal with ultrawide support: doesn't exist.
Mouse/keyboard support? servicable, but not "great".
