Meh. It does have some weird quirks that you have to baby a bit. For example, I had to disable Synapse on startup because although it loaded on boot, it didn't think it was loaded so my profiles wouldn't work. And too many users have something like that to manage - for this I just have to do one extra click on startup. So silly things like that shouldn't exist in software, hence the complaints but it's not like it's unusable and I don't think it should dissuade you from buying if you're really interested in the hardware - but to each his or her own.
This is more or less my thoughts as well. Do I want it constantly running on my computer for my profiles to be applied? No. But considering the price I paid for most of my peripherals, it could be worse. Now and then it bugs out and I have to run as administrator or force close and reboot to get it to update properly. Once recently it deleted my lighting profile completely and I had to rebuild it. That was annoying. Most of the time I don't really notice it much, though.
From my experience I think it’s better than Logitechs G HUB and Corsairs Icue. The bar isn’t very high though.
It’s my favorite software so far, for laptop use. Great layout, with clear and concise tabs, and options that make sense. I never cared to use with just their mice (is that the way to type it plural?).
No, it’s completely fine. I’ve been using it for years without the slightest problem, people just like to complain. People calling it cancer or malware is the most hilarious over exaggeration.
This. I’ve had Razer products since 2012-13, the only problem I have had is Naga mice dying, repeatedly…
Synapse is broken garbage, but it's good when it works right and the hardware is pretty awesome. If you're coming from the G502 I highly suggest the Basilisk V3
No software is perfect for everyone tho peripheral softwares do seem to have more issues. Synapse is not unique, google ghub bad or Icue bad and you'll see similar complaints.
It works well, until it doesn't. It worked just fine for me for years, then about a few months ago it started acting strange. With my mouse, when I played a game window mode and would alt tab to look at something sometimes the scroll wheel wouldn't work in Firefox. I checked the settings and it was set for scrolling like it always is, but it wouldn't scroll. It would work in the game, but not in Firefox. This would happen after a few hours of playing on most nights. Sometimes it would also cause Firefox to crash when I would try to close it, causing it to want to open in safe mode. Killing Synapse would fix it.
With my keyboard, a rare occurrence would happen. It would double up the last 6 or 7 characters I would type. That was happening about once or twice a week. I disabled Synapse for 2 weeks and the problems went away. I just recently reset my mouse and keyboard in the software to see if that will help.
