Using both inputs on Windows 10 (Scarlet 2i2 2nd gen)
Hello, I’m trying to get both input 1 &2 to show up on discord. Input 1 is my mic and input 2 is my guitar. Windows 10 shows my audio device input as “Focusrite USB Audio, Analog 1 +2”. However, I can only hear input 1 no matter what I do. Using Voicemeeter, I am able to hear both inputs in mono to where input 1 is only left ear & input 2 is only right ear. If I change the track to mono, I can hear both input in both ears but the app causes delay and distortion so I don’t want to use it.
Is there a relatively simple way to get both inputs to work in things such as discord? I’d even be okay with mono inputs.
Using Windows, I can only ever get input 1 to working in games and discord.
Thanks
It sounds to me like you have more issues going on than just the default behavior of the device.
Have you:
Updated your Focusrite drivers
Ensured that your 2i2 has the most recent firmware update
Getting both inputs individually available for use in all your programs is a whole nother topic, but you should definitely be getting audio from both inputs, they'll just be summed to mono for most programs.
Yeah I just updated the drivers a couple days ago. I use the scarlet on my Mac for Logic Pro and both inputs work fine. On Windows 10, I used an internet microphone test. It gave 3 input options. 1 did nothing, 1 got the signal from the the mic and the other got its signal from the guitar. So I believe the Scarlet 2i2 is working fine. I think for some reason Windows 10 by default only uses the signal from Input 1 unless you’re running a software like Voicemeeter that allows for input selection.
I believe that the scarlet sends its signals to the PC as mono signals with input 1 being left and input 2 being right. Then Windows 10 converts the mono left signals from input 1 into a stereo signal.
if you right click on the focusrite icon in the system tray you can "expose hide windows channels". for me it shows paired analogue inputs in discord so you should be able to use 1+2. if not you might have to route it through a DAW first, i have had line outputs sent to Reaper (Free) then routed back into discord via line outs>line in on the mobo
Great I’ll try using reaper. Do you notice any delay when using it? By system tray, are you talking about the icon on the bottom right of the Windows bar?
