All USB-C cables* except the legacy/charging/"USB 2.0"-only cables are "full-featured" per spec, i.e. have all the wires inside. So all USB-C cables that can do USB3 can always do the x2 modes. Just the speed each wire supports changes.

The technically precise description would be to just name the speed, so Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3. What is done with those cables (USB3, USB4, DisplayPort, something entirely different and custom) and how many wires inside of it are actually utilized is the business of the host and client.

Since USB3 10G uses half the high-speed wires and USB3 20G uses all of them, but each at the same speed, cables advertised for USB3 10G and USB3 20G are synonymous, as long as they follow the specs.

*: there are caveats for fiber-optic cables.

And yes, that makes both of them CC3G2 in that table.

And according to the current guidelines of the USB-IF, those cables should be advertised simply as "USB 20G"-capable. Just like with the power ratings, where customers are supposed to be able to rely on every slower/ lesser number to be covered by the higher numbers.

So all USB-C cables that can do USB3 can always do the x2 modes

Is this true? Do you mean all USB-IF certified full-featured cables have all wires populated? I certainly have a handful of cables that do not populate all USB3 pairs, but I can't say they're USB-IF certified.

To recap, Gen 3.2 2x2 means two lanes are used for 10gbit/s USB transmit and two lanes are used for 10gbit/s USB receive. (It's still just USB not a bus like TB3/USB4, it's just sent over two lanes instead of one.)

Now, the specification for cables do not discern between lanes, it's always about all four lanes. They can be missing, capable of transmitting 5gbps, 10gbps or 20gbps (for the USB4 bus).

Thus a Gen 3.2 Gen 2 and a Gen 2x2 cable are the exact same.

Question about my USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port in desktop?

This is the only usb port left i have on my Medion Desktop pc so my thought is this!

USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 1port can i use a usb hub and use 2 ssd´s instead of 1 ssd only and still get good speeds between these 2 ssds?

SSd i probably will buy is the xs2000 2TB SSd external its supposed to be a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 SSD`?

and the 2nd is the xs1000 2tb external i already have...

Will the speeds trnsfering between these 2 ssds be good or will it be horrible if i use 1 usbc USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 for both of them and use it?

I hope i explained it so u aúnderstand what i mean(1usb c port for usage of 2 external ssds?)
