ASUS B650M-A Prime AX II : Is it any good?

Build Help

I got a good combo deal with this motherboard. But I can't find any good reviews on it, nor can I find it in any recommendations or tier list. Can somehelp refer to some link where I can get more info? Or if you're personally using this mobo, you can share your experience. Btw, I'll be pairing it with 7600X and DDR5 6000Mhz RAM.

Thanks.

If you are getting the microcenter bundle then I would watch this video

Thanks, but this video or the related article on Techspot does not review the AX II version I mentioned. They review the Asus Prime B650M-A WiFi and Asus Prime B650M-A WiFi II. It seems like AX II is a newer version.

I got the MicroCenter bundle and didn't watch the video. The board is well-featured but takes 40 seconds to POST, which makes restarting really annoying.

Does this board have wifi? I’m seeing mixed reviews about it

this is the best mATX motherboard you can get under $300 for a NAS build. it has a ton of expansion options, 8 SATA ports, wifi module that can be converted into 2 more SATA ports with a $5 SATA module. 2.5G lan. good amount of USB ports. 2 M.2 slots. etc. i spent months looking for a good low budget motherboard for a few UNRAID boxes. this one did the trick.

I bought the Ryzen 5 9600x microcenter bundle last week for my daughter's (gaming/content developer) build this board and added on another 16 gb memory stick for it. It freaked me out a bit when I first powered in and got no video, but all the fans and lights were going. The initial POST took a bit of time, but now it boots into windows 11 under 10 seconds on Power. It's a solid board with plenty of expansions, light, fans and usb connects. The only issue we found with it is the USB-c on the NZXT case does not work and she has to use the one built on the motherboard l. Everything else works on the front case bit the usb-3 connection on the board probably needs a bios update.

I have had a terrible experience with this board:

  • takes 40 seconds to POST

  • sometimes when rebooting, the memory training fails and it doesn't POST at all (probably need to disable Memory Context Restore, which guarantees the long POSTs).

  • Bluetooth is spotty and sometimes doesn't work at all

long post has nothing to do with the board. some ryzen CPUs have dog shit memory controllers, and ryzen in general takes a longer time to boot compared to anything else from the last 20 years.

i had a 7950X on an Asus X670E proart, a $500 motherboard, that took 2-10 minutes to post. i ended up RMAing it and the new one posts in like 10 seconds with 96GB of 6400MHz memory.
