Acquisition[]
Fish Oil can be acquired by speaking to Fisher Hai-Luk with fish in your inventory and choosing "Cut Fish". The number of oil increases with the size of the fish captured, independently of weight.

Blueprints Requiring Fish Oil[]
Patch History[]
Update 24.6 (2019-04-04)
- POE / CETUS ECONOMY REMASTER LITE
With Fortuna's release, we applied some general economy changes based on takeaways from Cetus. Now that we have returned to Cetus and the Plains of Eidolon with a remaster, we are applying some 'Economy Remaster' changes to go with the changes in an effort to apply our continued learnings. Change is the name of the game - thank you for all feedback on our economies and for being receptive to change!
- Zaw Handles now use Fish Oil instead of Fish Scales. Amount normalized to 50 units.
- Normalized Fish Part costs across Amp Part Blueprints - some had 5 rare parts, some had 2, now there's 3 needed for all.
- Removed Cetus Wisps from Amp Prism Blueprint, and replaced them with Fish Parts or Eidolon Gems.
- Removed Fish Scales costs from Operator Armour Blueprints, and replaced them with Fish Parts.
- Fish Oil can now be sold for 100 Credits.

Dear god, you have to fish...to make an Archwing launcher?
I remember now why I left.
That's a lie you still need to make the Archwing Launcher Segment as well Archwing Launchers
I remember i had flew wtih archwing or some kind of gravity board, but now i'm returning, i need to farm iridite forlauncher segment and now i need some fish oil to make the archwing.tell me if this is nromal way to obtain archwing.
Old reply but the hover board is completely different, you need to build / craft the launcher in order to use the archwing in open world
I'm fine with needing to fish to get oil to craft the launcher....but how do I fish? lol
Why the fuck would a literal J E T P A C K need oil from a fish?
Maybe OIL! For moving parts.
Fish oil is the only oil USA didn't take yet.
Lol
It looks like piss.
Literally
It took me a while to figure out the image is looking downward at a cup of fish oil.
Ah thanks! I always thought it was a "Glob" Like floating in no-gravity. Ya they coulda looked more at a sideways angle.
I always thought that it looked like it was in zero-G too, I kind of feel like this is an unintentional easter egg now.
Thanks fandom you guys Are the ppl I call when I don’t know some thing <3

I'm wondering why can't we craft canned fish and sell it to the Ostrons, Solaris for standing. Like, 200-500 standing per can.
the most awesome way to fish
what sense does it make that a killer robot that is designed to wage war is now relegated to fishing...... doesnt fit the rest of the game full of lasers and spaceships..
^How's your lubing hand?
Because it's actually the kids inside the 'killer robots' that are fishing. The kids were forced to be weapons but they want to be more than just that. Appropriate, really.
True
Warframe is an MMO. And as every educated person knows, an MMO isn't a real MMO if it doesn't have fishing in some form. Tibia had fishing, WoW had fishing, Metin had fishing. Therefore, in order to be allowed in the ranks of respectable MMOs, Warframe has to have fishing. You may find it not fit the atmosphere or theme. You may simply not like it. But the rules of the genre are merciless, yet very simply. Whether it's a fantasy universe with boob plates and jiggle physics, or a futuristic galaxy inhabited by combat bio-robots - it has to and will have fishing.
At least make free roam arcwings not requiring fish oil... Some riven mods requinte them... Or at least allow us to buy free roam arcwings using plat...
Bye i hate arcwings on this game, but i hate fishing more...
JilloftheJungle here,
i totally know what you mean about that, the fish oil, as a requirement to launch a spaceship, seems totally retarded in my mind. (i figured a magnetic polariton drive or something) but FISH OIL? WTHECK warframe... come on.
Hooray for unlimited free Archwing summoners now
Just btw, fish oil would be used as a lubricant, and we don't have regular oil in this game for some reason. It's a cool way the devs got people to get into fishing because it would have been a forgotten and useless mechanic otherwise. It's really hard to find a game like this, where the fighting is tied together with some peaceful activities. Most games I find these days have people who pretty much have guns as a religion, but Warframe also lets you be a nice peaceful person (to an extent). You could also use these recreational activities in this game as a way to unwind after a few hours' worths of grinding out for your dream weapon/frame/anything else. Also, Thank God the devs decided to make Archwing summons unlimited.
Wth, not doing this unless i can shoot the fish. I want fishing i Will buy fishing simulador. At least we dont have to use rocks ir sticks to make fire, at least yet!
So terrible. Either you're forced to add minutes to every Cetus bounty run because you can't use an archwing, or you're forced to spend hours grinding fish oil. On top of that, you have preposterously low spawn rates in solo, so you're now queueing LFG, waiting to grind fish oil to avoid wasting time in bounty runs. All of which could be forgiven if the fishing minigame was at least interesting, but it's not. It's shallow, janky, and just annoying. Sorry to my future squadmates who actually farmed this crap, but I'm going to be walking.
Yeah, let's disregard the lack of knowledge about spawnrates and stuff here, in the end leading to the fact that in time spent writing this complaint, you could catch about enough mortus fish to fund few 50x archwing packs.
Have you tried volt prime? also its not even that hard to get fish you can just trade for it if you are lazy
this really isn't too big a deal, idk why so many people are upset about this
Ikr, I find it kinda fun to fish in here

Fishing in this game has got to be tied for the most incredible inane ideas ever...
Fishing? Why the hell does this theme keep popping up in Asian influenced titles? What's wrong with their culture? We could keep the whole space-robots-fucking-up-zombies theme going, but noooo, let's just slow the entire virtual reality experiment down with a god damn fishing sim.
I really hate anime nerds. Way too much IP is made for these creepy shits. How much you want to bet the next DE adds is turns out to be a full-scale dress up sim complete with a selection of underpants? Because, well, you know, there's a bunch of witness 20 something men will pay $100s for that.
Can't believe I supported this game early on. Should've seen this coming.
The game is basically fishing. For RNG. Thats pretty much what warframe is, a fps fishing game.
^i guess the correct prase would be "TPS RNG Fishing Simulator"
He knew what FPS mean idiot its called a joke too bad it went over your short ass head
^ Clam down, this is a game that was made for you to have fun in after all. Maybe you just don't quite get that
This is really stupid, warframe is futuristic game yet fishing is not. What a joke this fishing is especially to get fish oils you have to have a fish and you can't buy them with credits from the ha luk how sad. Done with plains inleast for now until they make archwing not farmable and free to spawn anytime.
farming or using the almighty Plat, i've yet to see fish oil in the store so why won't they just take my damn platnium already.
Warframe is a futuristic game, yet for some reason bringing a knife to a gun fight results in the knife winning almost every time.
Lol of course you can't buy fish with credits. Do you really think Fisher Hai-Luk has any interest in your pesky space money?
he obviously wants our pesky space metal...(plat)
For everyone saying that you can't find fish, there are fish in almost all of the bodies of water throughout the plains, easiest places to go would be the coasts, since a wide variety of fish can spawn there, many of which giving anywhere from 50 to 2000 standing if you trade them in for that. Large common fish give 50, Large uncommon 200, Large rare 1000, Large Extremely rare 2000.
The way to get fish to spawn is to hold down right click while looking at the water, when you do so the sounds around you will dampen, and you'll have to listen for the sounds of the water moving or bubbling, you will the have to look around and try to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. The fish aren't always in the water, they spawn in when you hold right click, you may even be able to see them apparate in the water.
There are different kinds of bait you can use to catch different kinds of fish, but from multiple different players player testing the bait, the most reliable bait that has been found is the first and cheapest bait you can get, peppered bait, sometimes when you use the more expensive baits, the fish don't even spawn so rather than wasting materials, just use the cheapest.
If you search for "Fishing" in this wiki you can see a detailed explain of where different types of fish spawn and when they spawn.
Happy Fishing Tenno.
THANK YOU! I had been wondering how fishing actually worked in this game. Spent about 20 mins fishing and picked up enough to either max out my beginner rep with Ostron or (the path I chose) get an obscene amount of parts from filleting.
I'm a console player, so what would this be in translation for me?
1 hour and still no fish, well now warframe it's a fishing simulator, cool another reason to wait a couple of month fot they to fix this system and maybe do PoE playable
where do you fish? I can't seem to find out where you go fishing
I sometimes change where I fish but most of the time it's around the big pond to the left of the door. You just come out of the spawn zone, go toward the north-west and you'll find that big water zone. I just go on a rock in the middle of it and start aiming with a spear. Within a few seconds, you'll start hearing some bubbles and water sounds, if you have headphones, it'll give you a hint about where the fish will be.
the sound that lets you know there's a fish to be caught can be heard the moment you start aiming your launcher, so that is up to your own foolishness for staring where there is no fish to be caught.
Ha, 30 min fishing run and Ive got 82 fish oil. Don't know what Im supposed to do with all this stuff other than make the Archwing Launcher, anyone know what you can make with fish oil?
Time to farm
