Is VRR the same as freesync?
Three weeks ago I bought a new monitor.
The monitor supports freesync premium. Sadly, in the Radeon settings app, the freesync option is available in the individual game settings, but not in the global display settings category. The only option I got there is the VRR option.
Why is this the case?
Is this the same as freesync?
P.S. I have an RX570 GPU.

VRR is the AdaptiveSync standard over HDMI. My understanding is it is very similar to FreeSync.Edit: https://www.whathifi.com/advice/vrr-everything-you-need-to-know-about-variable-refresh-rate
FreeSync and Vesa VRR are the same because AMD made the standard...
Not on HDMI though.
FreeSync over HDMI is different to HDMI VRR.
AMD does not support HDMI VRR on Windows (yet), only the proprietary FreeSync over HDMI.
On Linux the situation is reversed, HDMI VRR is supported by the FOSS driver stack but the proprietary FreeSync over HDMIedit: typo is not (and won't be)
FreeSync(/VESA VRR) over DP works just fine on both.
Kk, thanks!
Have you connected it through HDMI?
From my observation it is called FreeSync in the driver when you have a DisplayPort device and VRR when you have a HDMI device. Shouldn´t make a difference functionally.
