Netgear Nighthawk WiFi 7 Tri-Band Router RS280S
Does anyone have a personal experience with this router? I’m currently shopping around for routers and saw this yesterday at my local Costco.

It's probably overkill for the average person, but will be sufficient for at least 10 years assuming no defects or damage.
Still recommend using an ethernet cable for anything requiring the best connection.
Agreed. Decently easy to set up for the average person and 80 devices isn’t a bad load. The future-proofing is also worth it given how fast technology outpaces itself.
On that note, this is also a PSA to NEVER buy any refurbished router if you’re an average person with average computer use/skills. The software can start malfunction and you’re going to be stuck fighting with it until you give up and buy an upgraded version like the 7.
Used to be a big fan of Netgear. Used to. Then they started making crap and charging support after 90 days if I recall. The warranty is a year and the support ends before the warranty? Hell no.
I went with Asus. Support goes longer, I don't know if it ever ends. The routers just seem made better. I got a mesh system due to my house having difficulties with wall signal penetraion.
I've heard mixed reviews on TP-Link but I'd go with them before I go back to Netgear after that support subscription crap.
My Netgear Nighthawk had issues where the Internet kept dropping out. I could connect to the router just fine, just some issue with getting a connection to the internet.
I switched to Asus and haven't had any problems since.
Thanks for your input. I have ASUS near the top of my list so I’m glad to see someone mentioning their experience with them.
I recently bought a Netgear WiFi 6 router from Costco. Used it for like a week, and returned it for a TP-Link Deco solution.
Deco isn’t perfect either, but that Nighthawk was a true piece of garbage. I know this is a newer model, and I don’t want to compare apples and oranges. But I would not buy another Netgear device.
I had netgear nighthawk previous model that I bought. It kept dropping the connections so I returned it though. Went either eufy. No issues since.
In the last few years, I bought at least 3 different Netgear routers. They all failed right after the warranty is done. If you call them for support, after 3 months, you need to pay for support.
for that amount of money you get 2 tp-link mesh wifi 7, that's better than 1, besides netgear is too overkill for ordinary users
